As part of a Marketing strategy its high advisable to use flikr in conjunction with other sites, I would also advise you to start a blog if you havent already and link them all together.

Flickr has lots of advantages, it can raise your standings in with search engines, it goes in addition to the gallery on your website. If your website only contains your very best work (as it should), then flickr can contain other great images from the same shoot / location. you choose your best but someone else might like a different shot / angle/lighting etc.

Definately a worthwile endevour

P aul - My Name
N - Short for and
J - First letter of wifeys name
MCC first three letters of surname

This was great when we first got together and has been fine for years. It even fitted in when our first son was born (as his name starts with an N) but now we have another one so I may have to add a D somewhere !

1. Dull content
I dont mind dull content as at least it shows an interest or an attempt to take a picture,

2. HDR
Again I dont mind subtle HDR but I agree when its overdone

3. Colour Popping
I like colour popping, I have seen some excellent pictures using this technique.

Not too sure what you mean but if you mean not straight or level, I agree. its something I suffer from a bit and usually the first thing I correct in PS

6. Cliched subject matter
Again i consider all these to show that someone is having a go and at least trying.

7. Blaming poor technique on equipment
Totally agree

My 7, (all my own personal opinion of course.)

1) Badly focused images
2) Holiday snapshots of people in front of landmarks/scenery
3) Oversharpened images
4) Cheesey effects (in camera or PS)
5) Sepia on anything modern
6) 'Olan Mills' style portraits
7) PP when passed of as "Straight from camera"

Hi Fiona,

From the set you first put on page 1 it goes 1st (by a long way) 1a the orange on blue is great and really works for me, but as has already been mentioned the offset flower and vignetting detracts from it. For me the flower shold be on the L/H side of the image (cause it looks like its leaning that way) the the offset would work

2nd is 3a, I really like the fact that it looks like a painting / sketch but there is way too much stalk. It just takes too long to go over to the R/H side.

Finally 3rd is 3c the fact there is more detail visible in the petals works well (for me) in this effect.

Unfortunately sepia is not an effect I am fond of with out additional PP work Like the example below (I hope you dont mind)

I do not know what software you have for PP work but you could try simply chopping up the image and seperating it like Below (I hope you dont mind)

Or playing with layer blend modes and textures like below (again I hope you dont mind)

Let me know if you like any of the above and I can write you some quick tutorials on what I did.

Waaaayy to austentatious for my taste but what an excellent example of a modern hot rod.

The finish is brilliant and I love the detail in the wing mirrors.

I think the wide angle works well on the front and side views but not so well on the back. The distortion of the white truck and the people dont work for me.

Great car though.

The first image from the second version does it for me. It has more depth in the blue/black ocean. At first glance I thought it was a lighthouse taken from and unusual angle !

My only comment as the same as Gareths regarding the rail cars being centred.

That Certainly is some stunning scenery,

Have you tried using a polorising filter ? It might help to reduce some of the haze.

Thanks for the feedback everyone,

Fatspider,
I did consider that, I think when I have the time i will go back and re-shoot some of them around dusk, so I get a deep blue (instead of black) sky with some clouds in to fill that blank space.

Davex & Liddy
Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a play in PS and see what I get.

Kind Regards
