No, the same basic principles apply. The best IQ will come from the lowest ISO setting, regardless of whether it is film or digital.

Of course, on the other end of the scale, and making use of all these pixels, ISO80 coupled with my 12-24 for landscapes will (hopefully) be sublime. Really hope this camera is up to scratch - the makings of something great are there. If the IQ is up to it then this will be a great little package.

Looks to me like it would be a good upgrade from my current k20 - nice to have the opportunity of high ISO and the supposed faster AF. Also, ISO display in the viewfinder is very handy (which I believe the k7 had anyway) However, I do think R&D would be better spent on still photography on a flagship dSLR. If I want moving pictures I'll use a video camera - the correct tool for the job. That aside, I skipped the k7 but I think I'll grab a k5. My only concern is that that's a lot of pixels to cram into a cropped sensor...

Non HSM Sigma 18-125 is a decent walkabout lens (if you get a good copy) and the best value out of your list. Got one when I got my ist d when first released and I've used it on all subsequent cameras with very acceptable results when I've needed a 'one-lens walkabout'. Yes, distortion's not great (not too bad though tbh) and neither's vignetting when wide open but use it wisely and you've got a great little compact and lightweight zoom with a pretty decent range. No problems with AF on mine. Maybe a tad slow but I don't know if the HSM is any quicker. With a longer range you're going to sacrifice IQ with lenses in that price range.

I am re-advertising this immaculate MZ-S here before I put it on Gumtree, eBay, etc, etc.

I sold it recently to a forum member but it was returned to me with a fault and the buyer was refunded. There was a broken piece of solder underneath the exp comp/iso select/pf dial and it wasn't always working. This has now been repaired at a cost of £56 and comes with 6 months guarantee on the repair. (Copy of receipt included). It now works perfectly.

This camera is spotless and has had very light use during its time with me. I bought it new in 2001 for £640 and went digital less than a year later. It has probably had not much more than a dozen films through it in total. It comes with a fresh set of batteries (a tenner) and will be packaged safely and securely.

Great camera. Hope an enthusiast can make more use of it than me.
