I'm sure I remeber some non motorsports shots from you previously Simon. They were rather good IIRC, but like Don I'd miss the racing shots if you stopped posting them.
Even in this set you have a landscape shot I rather like as no 6 - yes it's got motorsport in it but it's showing the scene more than the car.
Photos & titles are as always brilliant!

Thanks for the kind words. I certainly took my fair share of rejects too - but the P51 is such a lovely plane some of them had to come out.

Any idea what wavelength cut the IR filter is?

We had a Mustang put on an air display as part of the local celebrations of the 70th anniversary of VE day. Impressive flying for a 70 year old!
These all taken with my Pentax K7 & Bigmos (Sigma 150-500):

My youngest 2 kids (ages 11 & 13) also had a try with my G5 & 55-200 and both managed some shots I'd have been very proud off just a couple of years ago. I can see I'll have serious competition if they take a more regular interest in photography!

I wouldn't expect to get much UV from that LED lamp. LEDs are particularly energy efficent for lighting, which would suggest the vast majority of their output is in the visible. (I know you can get UV LEDs but wouldn't expect them to be used for visual purposes even though the cheaper ones are visible)

One of our workshop members had an ARPS but decided to let it go rather than paying the annual fee.

aren't zoom lenses varifocal lenses?
They can be, but can be parfocal too.
Varifocal lenses need refocusing when zooming, parfocal lenses keep the same focus at different focal lengths.

Thanks Gwyn, looks like it could be fairly good round here (84% max) - won't have the magic of Totality but I doubt I'll get to experience that again

Darker shades (13 or 14) of welding glass make it safe to observe/photograph & are available on-line at reasonable prices.

All screw mount lenses can easily be used on a Pentax DSLR with Pentax Adapter K.
Not at all John. The thread may be nearly 5 years old but we've still got to keep it accurate.

All M42 screw mount lenses can be mounted, as can T2 lenses, and some M39 lenses with appropriate adapters.
However many screw mount lenses are for rangefinder cameras and don't have enough rear focal distance to use for anything other than macro on a any SLR.
The situation gets even worse for C mount, CS mount, D mount, RMS... which are all screw mount lenses!
The last three of these are difficult/impossible to get infinity focus with on mirrorless cameras.
