If you mount a mic on the hot shoe you will pick up all your handling noises.

The Rode hotshoe mounted mic claims to have "low handling noise". I think it incoporates some damping. I don't know how well it works.

I have rode video mics...
if used properly, the rubberband shock mounts work great... but.... if you are shakey with your camera, little tiny squeaky/crunch noises get picked up from the rubber bands moving... other than that they do great at isolating noise.

I have been using the Rode Stereo Mic in the hotshoe all summer and found it a fantastic piece of kit, I have used it extensively and have only just put a new 9v battery in. The only drawback is that women seem to have an irresistable urge to stroke the dead cat (Grey furry muffler).

I will try to put some on line if i can figure how. Most of my stuff is just burned onto DVD after processing in Power Director 7, I have no experience of on line sharing.

K-7 videos can be directly uploaded to YouTube. They don't need to be converted or resized first. YouTube does all that for you.

O.k Heres my first upload to you tube, Not the best choice to show off the Rode Mic but will find something more suitable when i have more time as a lot of it is at music gigs which would breach copyright if i posted online (Though it does`nt seem to put others off doing it!)link

Hard conditions to record in with the sea wind, I'm no expert but I find it good.
