Strange for them to ask you to increase the resolution if you didn't resize them! Maybe the email made a thumbnail version for fast viewing and they are right clicking/saving it, rather than downloading the full size one?

Unless they want the image really hi-res for a publication or poster, sounds like the problem might be at their end (user error!)

Whoops, too late! Of course I wouldn't ever do such a thing, it was purely a hypothetical scenario.

He called C&E and asked "why has duty and VAT had been levied this time, when previous items had come though with no duty or VAT". C&E agreed to look into it, if he could provide a list of previous items that had been sent, along with dates. He provided that list - an they sent him an invoice for unpaid duty and VAT!
Doh!

Dammit!

I guess this is where actually going abroard has a benefit (presuming you forget to declare the camera hanging around your neck as you pass through customs).

Presumably one doesn't pay VAT on gifts? There are probably few people in the UK without a helpful family member or friend down under or across the pond

Just skimmed Will Cheung's review. I thought it was very positive!!

Their review of the Pentax 100mm Macro though, in the same issue... ouch!

What I think is that any speculation as to the state of mind of the person who called the police is utterly futile because there are too many unknowable variables.
Fair enough I s'pose. But re the 'sense of hysteria' I think we let our revulsion at the type of threat affect our perspective of the actual risk posed.

Would you take a punt on an f2 perhaps? A bit more common and slightly cheaper.

generally somebody who cares sufficiently for the community to alert the police at perceived danger should IMO be applauded, not pilloried; I for one wish there was a lot more of that going on.
Don't you think it's a pity her first thought was to call the police rather than engage Amin in conversation? IMO there is far too much suspicion of eachother in our society, and hysteria around issues such as paedophilia blinds us to the real harm that our selfish lifestyle has on our kids.

This is a general point I am trying to make, rather than a 'photographers rights' issue...

I have ordered a backpack from 7 day shop - it's got a single strap that goes around your shoulder/chest, so you can swing it to the front of you quite easily - rather than being annoyingly inaccessible behind you. It's a bit cheap 'n' cheerful but I'll let you know how I get on!
