Increase the resolution

I think that the resolution is good enough though or might it be that they are shrank down to send over the net?
If you send the normal jpg straight out of the camera to them and and the resolution he has is the same then you don't gain any quality with increasing resolution so why do you want to do that?
It's better he increase it then, you can do that with most image manipulation programs, gimp is such program and it's free.

The question is, did you reduce the resolution prior to sending the pictures? And if so, did you retain the original picture (as opposed to over-writing it)?
If No to the former or No to the latter, then there is nothing you can do. Increasing the resolution of a JPG is seldom going to give a pleasant result.
You might not be aware that you reduced the resolution, because some programs do it automatically when they think the picture is going to be used on the web.
Anyway, compare the picture you sent with the picture you kept, and if they are different, send the latter WITHOUT reducing it.

Thanks for all the help, just resent them without resizing in an email and I am waiting to hear if they are satifactory. I sent them before by using Picasa to someone else who forwarded them to the person who contacted me.

Strange for them to ask you to increase the resolution if you didn't resize them! Maybe the email made a thumbnail version for fast viewing and they are right clicking/saving it, rather than downloading the full size one?
Unless they want the image really hi-res for a publication or poster, sounds like the problem might be at their end (user error!)

We have made an assumption that the person receiving these files knows what they are talking about. It may be that they don't know what they are doing and they are asking for the pictures to be larger.
Why don't you post them to Flickr or Photobucket instead?

It's never possible to actually increase the resolution of any image, because that would mean finding more detail than was in the original.
With some programs, you can however increase the size by interpolation.

You mean that scene in Bladerunner wasn't true!
