The Irix 15 or Samyang 14 are great ultrawide lenses. The Samyang is really cheap but won't take screw in filters... after some deliberating I've decided I can live with that but give it some thought. Samyang do a filter holder system that takes 150mm square filters for about £25.

The Irix looks fabulous and I wonder if you'd feel the need to 'upgrade' to the 15-30mm wide zoom at all!

The Tamron 28-75mm might be worth looking at as an alternative to the 24-70mm standard zoom.

Prefer the mono version; very nice conversion.

Beautiful image Roger, it's quite sculptural.

Isn't your distance-to-subject the key thing in determining 'perspective'? I dunno, I always feel like Father Dougal here when this topic comes up

Maybe. It's not really worth getting bogged down in, IMHO.

What do people think about my idea of treating the 14mm as a sort of 14-18mm 'zoom', via a shoot-wide-crop-later approach ... ? Sorry to dredge this up from a few pages back, but yeah... I couldn't decide between the Samyang 14mm and the 20mm; but soon realised that there was plenty of resolution from the Samyang to be able to shoot in 'crop mode' and have a 2-lenses-in-one solution. Admittedly I am not doing this often, because after enjoying the 14mm ultrawide view, 20mm feels a bit pedestrian.

I thought you'd switched absolutely ages ago, Don! Yeah, it's a no brainer if you shoot video.

A K10D going unsold in the classifieds got me nostalgic for my K10D... I actually preferred the ergonomics to the other Pentax DSLRs I've owned, and I always found the image quality very nice.

You're lucky to have all this within striking distance. Especially the rum n raisin ice cream.

I do fancy one of those little Qs.
