For a number of years I used Aperture to conduct post production work on consecutive iMacs. Not the most comprehensive application but I became quite comfortable with what it had to offer. A few days ago I was obliged to perform a clean install of the operating system which meant, bearing in mind that Apple had ceased production and support of Aperture, that I would need to re-install the application. Needless to say the software was now incompatible with the present day OS and it failed to install although there was an override button to force installation but it could affect the operation of the system! Now, to get to the point, are there other former Aperture users out there who have had to transfer to another application, ideally one that offers features similar to Aperture and doesn't involve me obtaining a mortgage to affect a purchase! The one feature that I really valued was being able to store my photos in a library within the application but online searching hasn't come up with anything that permits that. Does anyone know something that I don't know? All suggestions appreciated.

I've seen some real beauties on eBay recently David but unfortunately the camera pot is empty at the moment! I've got four bodies for sale but nobody's biting! They're visible at http://www.jaypix.net/the-pentax-collection.html at the top of the page.

I still need to add an MX to the collection!

My 'new' LX got its first trip out this morning! What a delight to use. No sign of sticky mirror, indeed, there's a good solid thump when the shutter is released. Guess I'll have to wait for the results to see if the metering is accurate and that there is no light ingress. Impressed so far though.

One alternative is to give up photography and take up underwater basket weaving!?

Personally, I feel that the foreground in the Trident shot is appropriate! Having specialised in aviation photography for many years I was always the odd one out who wanted to portray an aircraft in its environment rather than fill every last millimeter of the frame with the aircraft only. Thus, love it! The tram too!

Got a working K1000 in the collection which was passed on to me by a friend - for free! Haven't used it myself yet but the daughter has successfully run a couple of films through it. It seems that every time you mention the K1000 somebody reacts with "I learnt on that" or "we had those at college"! It'll have to wait its turn to get used though!

Personally, I think you should have been a little more patient and held out for a Z-1p! johnha has told you just about all you need to know about the camera but it was the last hardware I used before turning digital and I loved it, but then I've said that about every Pentax I've owned and used since 1974. I will eventually get back to using it but in recent times I've taken an S1a out of the collection to use followed by an SPll. I've just brought my beloved K2 back to life and will probably dig out the ME Super thereafter. The Z-1p was a large camera but it nestled in my hands most comfortably and I am sure you will love it also when you eventually acquire one. Keep looking.

Many thanks for all your comments.
Rich, I've just been to the SNS website and I think it deserves further investigation. The photos shown in the website's gallery are just what I am looking for.
Smeggy, I tend to agree with you; something between John's two photos would be just ideal. I was photographing in a church a couple of days ago and got a very similar result which made me decide to look a little deeper into the subject.
Once again, many thanks for your assistance and, hopefully, others can benefit from it also.
