If you go the way of a cheap manual focus/pre-set lens with M42 thread, check if it has a T2-M42 adapter fitted. If it does then this could be changed for a T2-PK adapter. It would then fit directly to the bayonet fitting on the camera the same as the standard lens. This saves the M42-PK adapter needing to be taken out of the camera every time at change time.

Some of these lens can be on Ebay for next to nothing but are still usable to someone willing to try.

If you get it done in time then you could join in with "World Pinhole Day" http://www.pinholeday.org/participate/

I had a go last year using a Kx

The hole was made with a single strand from a stiff electric cable. Silver foil wrapped round extension tube. Different tubes for different focal length.

This was the result. Maybe could do better but at least with digital you can practice on what exposure is needed and see instant results which could save lots of false processing.

Lovely pictures!
Any idea what the no.7 bike is? looks like a big British single with double sided drums on the front.

If you go for a Pentax 55-300 the Quickshift is definitely worth having on the better model. You can pull the focus back to infinity between shots manually and then the focus snaps in faster on the auto-focus when taking the picture. Otherwise the AF can motor from mid distance to close distance before going back toward infinity, which in my opinion is where the majority of shots are closer to with a zoom telefoto.

Hi, I watched an old re-run Professionals about 2 weeks ago. They were using a Pentax in that. Not sure of model, But pretty sure it wasn't Digital.

Why will this converter not work with SDM? It has the necessary contacts to drive SDM. Is it just because of the lower light throughput ie. two stops lost, or is there a fault with the contacts?

On K5, if IS was the last thing accessed on the info pane, you can press info then scroll the aperture wheel one click, then shoot your next picture. It goes straight out of the info pane as you press shutter button to focus this next shot. Very fast change. The wheel changes whatever is highlighted.

Brilliant pictures, as always.

Strange how the pretty birds all seem to be married. (rings on).

I've recently bought the newer version. Was going for your version but a free filter from Sigma and extended warranty swayed me.

Getting on great with it on my Kx mainly or K5. Seems to focus faster than my DA55-300 with the wide option when needed.
