A few with the DA*300 @ f4

Get a lot more keepers with the DA*300 if I can leave SR off, while I have no concerns using the the OS in the Sigma 150-500.

I was in a hide this morning, so I was happy to drop the shutter speed a little to 1/200 and still leave the SR switched off, knowing I was resting on a ledge.

These were all taken with the K5.

Magnificent Alan. How close to the birds were you?

Incredible shots !
I also find it interesting that these birds have been ringed.

Thanks guys. David the birds were all taken at pretty much minimum focus distance. The rat was 2 to 3 times that distance

Brilliant pictures, as always.

Strange how the pretty birds all seem to be married. (rings on).

Excellent stuff! I was wondering about turning off my SR, but its so awkward to do on the K5 compared to my K20d!

Haven't had a camera with a physical SR switch. I find no issue with switching it off. Just press the info button and select on or off

Easy! Peasy! Press the Info button twice to show
the 2nd screen on the LCD move down to the bottom right
icon and switch off or on.

On K5, if IS was the last thing accessed on the info pane, you can press info then scroll the aperture wheel one click, then shoot your next picture. It goes straight out of the info pane as you press shutter button to focus this next shot. Very fast change. The wheel changes whatever is highlighted.

I must try with SR off. Only done that on a tripod with delay, but my tripod isn't up to it. Mmmm, food for thought........

Great shots, by the way.
This space deliberately left blank.
