I have used the kit lens in some bad weather with no apparent ill effects, but would be nice to have weatherproof lens.
the sugestions to try at a dealer sound like a good option, what should i be looking for specifically?

Amateur Photograher compared the Pentax 16-50 2.8 and the Sigma 18-50 2.8 lenses.
the conclusion was very close in image quality, but I have heard of quality problems with the Pentax lens.
do any of you guys use either of these optics?

John has correctly identified the problem, I took the shot in mixed light, tungsten and twilight.
Obviously the K10 is more sensitive than my DL as there was not much outside light in the frame.

I`m still playing around with it and have noticed a problem with the WB setting. When shooting in tungsten light, the awb setting works as expected, but if I use the preset tungsten setting a heavy blue cast is apparent.
Anyone else had this problem?

The K10 is on offer at a very low price at the moment, and I am tempted to upgrade from my DL.
Obviosly the K10 is a better quality camera with many more features and better performance, but will I notice an increase in image quality at 10x8 from the 10mp sensor?
I have to say that my DL produces very nice images, but a larger viewfinder and faster operation of file buffer and playback would be nice.

am interested in purchasing this lens, has anyone here used one?
If so, what is you`re opinion of it.
Will I notice any difference in image quality compared to my 18-55 lens
at 10x8 print sizes.

You can pick up a new 31mm for around £650, but I agree with George, second hand is a good way to go. Unfortunately these lenses are like hens teeth on the used market.
As for the fixed lens hood, I rarely use filters so thats not a problem.
