Yep it's annoying for sure, so much so I don't bother filling out the date/time and sacrificing the exif record.

Fortunately some other settings must be stored within internal memory, so it's not like starting again with your preferred settings, just the time and date is lost.
I hadn't thought about that. how come all your camera settings are saved but not the time/date?

Hi, can anyone help with this. Haven't used camera for a while and the time/date memory has gone. I seemed to remember reading somewhere that there is a rechargeable onboard battery. Do you have to leave the camera battery in the camera to recharge this or must you have the camera switched on as well?

regards
Rick

just discovered why the Godox V860iii does not work properly on my K5. Should have checked the compatibility, 645z K3ii K1 KP K70. I dont know what has changed since my camera came out and why the flash works if you mess around with the controls on the gun.
My silly error!

[quote:3496ace15f="DOIK"]With the flash switched off try sliding the it on to the hot shoe several times, it may be an intermittent dirty contact

thanks John. I tried that when i first had the flashgun but it did not work. logically it must be something on my K5 as the gun works on other cameras. I have just spent 10 minutes fiddling with settings on the flash unit and it then started working.
Like I said on original post, it is odd.

hi,

got an odd problem with my k5 camera when using a flash gun. I purchased a Godox V860iii gun and it will only work after messing around with the settings, it takes a while and will eventually fire up. I then purchase a Pentax AF540FGZii gun and it works perfectly. This is when it gets weird!

A friends Pentax Kp camera works fine with the Godox gun and then i put the Godox back onto my K5....and it works staight away! Try the Godox on my K5 a few weeks later and.. does not work again.

any thoughts please?

Rick

Thanks John,

I tried comparing a couple of shots but could not see much difference.O looked ok and plus looked slightly sharper but not as much as photoshop sharpening, I think camera sharpening only does edges.

I was suprised at the image quality compred to raw, could not see any difference.

Hi,

a question about jpeg sharpening with the K5.If the setting is centered does this apply any sharpening? If you set a minus setting does this make the image softer?
I always use raw but would like to try the picture modes and highlight recovery settings.

rick

Thanks to all for help.Ive just put lenscap on camera and sure enough the rear screen blinks away.
Ive not had a camera with live view before,so this did not occur to me.
The status screen on the back of the K5 comes on when you turn the camera on and then blinks in very low light.

thanks
Rick

Ah, that i did read in the manual, but its not what is happening in this case. The aperture, shutter speed and iso speed are all blinking together.
