Sandinista, you have a PM. I realise that I`m in a queue, at least behind Gareth.

Thinking about what Darkmunk said about making your own, I thought I had seen something about printing and cutting out a lens hood and I found www.lenshoods.co.uk.
Unfortunately, they don't have the 50-300mm! But maybe you could get away with the 50-200mm hood?
HIH.

Hi Gareth,

Like Offertonhatter, I downloaded it and installed it last month.
From what little use I've had, I agree with Offertonhatter in that it does seem to be resource hungry once to start using it, so although I have run it in 4GB RAM, I think that it would run smoother with the recommended 8GB.
That aside, I do like what I have seen of it so far and will use it in the future.

Thanks to the OP for this and a big thanks to Soran for pointing to ebay and his advice on buying.

Took delivery two days after placing order. Went up a size (glad I did - thanks Soran!) and so far very happy! Also got a baseball cap.

Try JJC thro Amazon...
As grandadchris6 suggested, I use JJC lens hoods on both my DAL 18-55 and 55-300 lenses. They are cheaper versions of the original pentax lens hoods (beyonet fit with removable panels to access filters) and when I put the lens away, I reverse mount the hood, so far with no problems. I got mine via a well known auction site, where a large selection of rubber hoods can also be found although you may prefer to use 7dayshop as snappychappy mentioned.

Hi all,

Started off with s/h Cosina CT-1 back in the early 80s. Progressed through Pentax ME Super, then SFX-n before giving it all up.

Wife bought me a Sony super zoom a few years back, which lead me back into SLR photography and a Pentax K-x twin lens kit a year ago.

Still take rubbish photos, but trying to improve!
