Camberley Jessops never ever has Pentax. Everything else.

Well, maybe, although I'd have thought that they'd be delighted to confirm that this price hike was forced on them by an outside party rather than an opportunistic money grab because of what's going on. Any silence would be deafening.

I, for one, would like SRS to tell us whether they've been specifically recently ordered as dealers to set them at these new higher prices (the MRRP thing) or whether they're doing this as a "market response" to the now lack of lower cost North American offers.

Based on those, Exif readings should be different. If not it's the exif that's wrong.

I think it's one of those cases where you can get 90% of the performance for 10% of the price - I quite like cases like this =). It's pretty unusual though as most sub optimal microscope objectives still do great at the centre but tend to be really crummy round the edge; this has great edge to edge. It's an ex Sov objective, they do tend to be pretty good. Just a lucky buy really.

@petrochemist, I use a stackshot in one of its modes on high precision, it lets you set step size. 8 is about right for 8x, for 20x you're looking about 3 or so.

@aliengrove, curious why you'd describe Lomo as bizarre? It is an 8x objective which covers APSC nicely and cost mea cheeky tenner on ebay; otherpeople use a mitu 10x which costs north of £500! Componon 28 has diffraction issues at this mag - I do have some 17mm coming in the post which might reach that but other than this it seemed quite a good value for money choice

Really made my day! Shot it last night after getting into work using a microscope lens. Full details, questions answered etc here on this link.
