Alkalines arn't really any good for DSLRs, you want to be using NiMH (Nikel Metal Hydride) re-chargables or Lithium single use batteries. These will last 4-5 times longer than Alkalines.

NiMH's in my DL2 give me more shots than I can be bothered to count, they self discharge before the camera ever drains them.

yes, Hoya own Tokina or possibly the other way around. Pentax and Tokina have been cooperating on lenses recently so this comes as no real surprise to me.

Hi Brian
I think I've maybe been stupid .I'm just waiting on two coming for my K10D [which I'm delighted with]. How can you tell if they are fake?[ apart from the low price ]. Is this celler the same the same guy-Manchester way?
Regards Fraser
Looks like the same guy Fraser, Liams post is a great link but does not cover the Extreme III cards, the genuine artical has a triangular notch on the bottom edge, the one I have recieved does not, my PC sees it as 1.86GB capacity and will format (FAT and FAT32) it but the K10D does not recognize it, won't even format in the camera.

I got a bad feeling as soon as I opened the package, the blister pack that holds the card and the soft zipped storage pouch is to big to fit in it's box.

Have just scoured the guys feedback, most are green but when he has received a red he's not replied to any communications, looks like I'll have to file a complaint.
sounds like a negative feedback specifically mentioning that the card is a fake might be in order. Sorry to hear of your misfortune!

makes sense since Hoya own Tokina anyway (or is it the other way round? I'm not sure) and a lot of recent designs have been Toktax (or Penkina if you prefer) colaborations

Shooting RAW is fine because in Capture One and Silkypix they automatically detect stuck pixels and map them out.
thats interesting, suddenly I'm more inclined to get to grips with real silkypix....

I hate it when people suggest that Kanicon have the only viable lens systems, its just rubbish.

good grief this is an old thread! I was still using Windows when I posted above!

GIMP has now advanced to the point where it too has a "fixed aspect ratio" option on its crop tool.

At the point where GIMP has a useful option available, anyone who finds their editor of choice does not have that option should consider downloading GIMP, it is free after all.

you have a jpg still at camera size. ie. 3008x2000 pixels, and want it reduced to say 800 pixels in width to post on the web. How do you work out the depth?
Potentially useful program, usually though I just check the "maintain aspect ratio" box in Photoplus.
