I hope i've put this in the right section.
This news is in todays Daily Telegraph's Business News and say's Hoya have agreed to buy Pentax in a stock swap estimated at £390m. The new company will be called Hoya Pentax HD.
I just wonder how this will work alongside Samsung? Anyway, at least Hoya is a top quality optical company and strengthens Pentax future against Cankon.
Anything that will up the Pentax marketing and distribution, terrible! Thank goodness i live only 15miles or so from SRS, the only problem is, being a pensioner, i can't afford the k10. Cue violins
I've just remembered, the Pentax name was clearly visible around the Murrayfield ground during the England Scotland game this autumn!

Agreed, Pentax are small compared to kanikon, and while being small often has advantages (a lot of the most innovative and creative products seem to emmanate from smaller concerns) when distributing and marketing your product having Big Budgets helps.

And then the larger concerns pinch the idea!

Will I have to take my K100D back to have the word "Hoya" inserted before PENTAX?

Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

makes sense since Hoya own Tokina anyway (or is it the other way round? I'm not sure) and a lot of recent designs have been Toktax (or Penkina if you prefer) colaborations
