However, I'd also ask yourself if you definitely need one. Unless you can afford to pay many hundreds of pounds, a robust tripod is going to weigh a lot and the bulk and weight mean that it's not always a viable proposition to take it with you.
I loved my Redsnapper, but just didn't take it anywhere because of the weight/size. Ended up as an expensive ornament and was sold on in 'as new' condition for a fair loss......

This is the more expensive of the two versions with the metal mount. In excellent condition complete with the box, both caps and Pentax soft case.

Cracking set Chris, quite jealous personally!
Feels churlish to point this out given how good they are, but the white balance is a bit different on the 5th one with regards to the snow, doesn't seem to affect those colours on the Pheasants though!
