Here's an interesting web page about the method and effects of the Bayer filter on resolution/sharpness.

link

I've compared non-pixel-shift vs pixel-shift of the same subject with my K-1 and the improvement in image sharpness is certainly visible. The RAW file size is nearly 4 times (46.7 MB vs. 173MB) the non-pixel-shift version even though the image dimension in pixels is the same at 7360 x 4912 pixels.

In fact the K-1's image sensor will actually have (7360 x 2) x (4912 x 2) light sensitive sensor elements with 4 being averaged together (1 red, 1 blue, 2 green (bayer) filtered sensor elements) to become a single non-pixel-shift pixel.

All a bit boggling!

Cheers

I'm guessing it's the same sensor but without the Bayer colour filter so you'll get monochrome images with effectively pixel shift resolution with a single image not 4 consecutive images needed for a colour pixel shift image.

I have a K-1 mk1 and far as I can tell there is no 'Flash Off' setting in any menu, see attached image of the 'flash' page from the manual.

My K-50 is the same.

Hope this helps.

And The Pleiades at the very top rhs corner, probably Jupiter down a little bit on the rhs edge, and there's Sirius to the left of Orion!

Plus that lovely blue gradation to the sky.

Great!

Maybe a bit off topic but back in 2007 I experimented with taking telescope eyepiece images with a small point and shoot Panasonic camera I had, my first digital camera. I was amazed at how well this method worked. The telescope was a Meade ETX105 and the camera was a Lumix DMC-LC80, so I'd point the scope at the moon, focus the eyepiece, aim the handheld camera down at the eyepiece and shoot. Here's a couple of examples of the results, first one the whole Moon diameter with terminator and second the same Moon phase with a higher magnification eyepiece giving partial Moon image.

Nice, I really rather like the Evening Primrose, a right tangle for the eye to unravel!

It sounds like the difficulty is someone not just being left handed but only having one hand at it's the left hand!

So they are looking for a camera that can be used with just one hand and it being the left hand.

Best regards
