If you would like a less expensive option there is a Sigma alternative that I got after reading Nigel McGregor's excellent guide.
I have the Sigma EF-610 DG Super for Pentax.
It appears to have all the features of the Pentax Flashes including High Speed Synch.
I've not checked whether it is still available but it's worth looking ?

Update:
The lens has now been sent to John Pye for repair. we'll see how it is on return.
Got it back in 4 days!
It's now better than when I bought it !! (The focus ring was always quite stiff too)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, serious food for thought!
It comes with the software, cables, slide holder and 35mm film holder plus instruction book. Works perfectly.
