Lens repair

Has anyone had a DA* 300 lens repaired? I've tried all the usual suspects ( Asahi Photo, A. M. Technical, A. J. Johnstone, Harrow Technical, 1st Aid repairs etc) but none of them will touch it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards,
Michael

Have you asked SRS? I know they contract out, but it might be to someone you've not tried...

The official repair agents in the UK are John Pye.

I contacted them John, they said they won't touch it as Pentax won't supply the parts

If John Pye can't repair in the UK, I was under the impression that items were sent to Germany for attention. That certainly happened to my lens recently and although they were slow, the work was fine.

Now that's very odd, because I contacted them about the same lens -potential new SDM motor - and they gave me a ballpark quote by return.

As it is, lens always wakes up, just a bit slower than when a bit younger, just like me!

If the SDM finally gives up the ghost then I'd recommend converting it to screwdrive.

The lens won't handle differently, and it's the most economical (and green) option.

The problem isn't the autofocus, there is 'play' in the barrel and i can hear what sounds like a small screw rattling around inside.
I contacted John Pye again by email and am waiting for a reply,
I've also contacted 'CamExpert.UK' still waiting for a reply from them too.

Got it back in 4 days!
It's now better than when I bought it !! (The focus ring was always quite stiff too)

Excellent service!

Michael
