And this also doesn't really help to bring new users to the Pentax brand too. Ban of the talk for "others" prevent the chance to show how and where Pentax really excels. Appalling policy and not appropriate for a forum, where it is suppose to be found freely expressed different points of view. It is also more than obvious not just few users are not happy with this. You are basically putting off people from this place, preventing unbiased information to be available.

To the OP - just do it, but not with D600 because of the oil issues. I have done the move to FF and I am not looking back. The only disappointment you might have is the surprise how low is the value on the second hand market of your Pentax equipment compared to the current skyrocketing high-street prices.

I think all of the story with Pentax lens price hike is nothing to do with "Rip Off Britain". Ricoh knows they are not in a position to compete with the Canikon big guys in the game. The only way to turn their purchase in profitable business is to develop Pentax as kind of quality, luxurious and (as it is already is) niche brand. An there are all signs they are following a long term strategy on that. Will they succeed? Only time would tell. Will the fans of the brand benefit: some will, other, who went into Pentax more as a bargain than anything else (like myself) not that much.

I am wondering how these new prices reflect on the current sells. The second hand marked seems unaffected, which could only mean not many are willing to pay this new ridicules prices...

The less is better is still a valid statement if you look only for a particular moment in time. It use to be 8Mpx is better than 16Mpx and now 20Mpx is still better than 40Mpx. However, the technologies are moving on very quickly and current 20Mpx are actually better than 8Mpx from the past. All of these in terms of noise and overall IQ. Obviously resolution is what it is.

It's completely another story, who really need more than 6-8 MPx for casual and semi-pro usage, although cropping ability should not be underestimated.

The specs for the new K-3 looks promising. I am not in doubt it would be one of the best in class. Unfortunately, this will not abolish the fact Pentax become too pricey as a system and still lacking in terms of variety of available glass.
