So what we are trying to say is that we have to be well educated to enjoy the art of photography, that one post is not only truly offensive, but totally blinkered to the world around you.

I have family members who enjoy photography but also have learning difficulties, they can read, they can write but not to the expected standards of some members on this site, So what should they do, hang up the cameras, not join in forums, not reach out and ask for help....
Thats all a completely fanciful leap you've made there ... apprently springing from your imagination ... no one has said anything remotely like that here.

The only thing that has been pointed out here is that appreciation and a little thanks is nice and polite, and that presentation in writing can add to its impact and how the writer is percieved. That is good advice for anyone, with learning difficulties or not.
So please tell, how do you perceive the OP on the basis of their grammar,

We do run courses for people with these perceived views if you are interested.

I don't know him, but let me remind you that you were the one who brought 'learning difficulties' into this ... it was not mentioned or even considered before you did so.
Yep your right, I don't know the OP either, so I didn't question his education or learning abilities, and I guess the members didn't consider this either before the criticism began.

Thats an over-reaction Marat... bringing learning difficulties into it misses the point. If there are learning difficulties involved, then its for the person themselves to reveal if thats important for them, and if not then getting peoples feedback and reaction to how you come across can only be positive and helpful.

Looking at the almost total fluency in the OPs comments it is clear that he would be able to understand the points made and apply them.

Your education level is a very personal thing, with or without learning difficulties, people I work with at Daybreak find forums like these a great way of educating themselves without mixing with others who may have preconceptions of their mental abilities just because their reading or writing skills are not on par with others.

So forum members feedback and reaction as you call it, can be upsetting and offensive, if you don't know the OP.

Nobody and I mean nobody has the right to criticize, lambaste or besmirch somebody for missing out a coma or full stop in a post, is this the sought of behaviour that is excepted on here, because in the modern world that has long disappeared.

Yes, like many things in life it can be those presentational details that make the difference to how well you are perceived, and how seriously you are taken.
Really, I thought it's a Internet forum about photography.

Tomorrow evening when I walk into a room full of smiling and happy adults with learning difficulties, I will have these stupid, uneducated and offensive comments spurring me on even more so.

That's odd, I didn't read Algernon's comment as rude, but simply him pointing out a truth: punctuation, grammar and spelling do matter.

It's actually quite disrespectful, as well as unhelpful, when photographers offer posts to which little thought has been given to literary conventions. One of the pleasures of this forum is the generally erudite nature of the comments.

I am truly, truly offended and disgusted by the comments made by long time and maybe long in the tooth members, I currently volunteer for a charity call Daybreak and we had thought that in the 21st century these sort views had long disappeared, it looks like we are wrong.

I am going to leave it at that as I am so angry at this moment in time.

Very hard to read when people don't use CAPS and punctuation marks!

FYI we bought a white one of eBay a couple of months ago for my daughter for £216 with kit lens in mint condition, I know it's not what you want to hear, but I think it's currently the norm for used Pentax kit, as values for all but the rarest items seem to be plummeting in price.

We have just bought a K50 kit with 18-50mm, 50-200mm and free Pentax flash for £420 from B&H in the states.

And that's with all customs and duty paid for.

I have said before, it's only when we start shopping elsewhere in the world, will people in power take notice.

Seems like my 30 years' experience in imports has gone to waste!! Enjoy your Xmas, guys!!
I do think sometimes you are lucky other times you are not, I suppose it's the risk you take and as long as you accept the fact that you may have an extra bill, but we can only go of the experience we have had.

I have only ever done it the once, so my experience is very limited but I did it with the understanding that HMRC may want something extra and I took the risk as the savings were that great compared to here in the UK.

I bought some items from adorama which is also a camera store in America in May of this year, the total spend was a little over $1000.

I too have had no bill, communication or invoice yet of any sort, so after 5 months I am guessing I am in the clear?

My bill was made up of $796 for goods and the rest for different charges I.e postal, import and taxes but I still saved hundreds of pounds if I bought the same items in this country.

They keep talking about rip off Briton but nothing ever seems to be done about it, so of course people are going to start looking overseas to make big buys and now with the World Wide Web it's even easier.
