Wow, I own the Pentax 17-70mm f4 and for IQ it blows most of my other lenses out of the water, I have also owned the Tamron 17-50mm both the VC and non VC, fantastic lens for the money but the Pentax is in another league.

The only gripe I have with the Pentax is the low light AF isn't the best, I also have the Pentax 16-45mm which is my go to landscape lens which I will never sell as I have found nothing yet on the market for the price to touch it.

Like John said, it might be worth getting yours checked out, because i would never think about swapping mine for the ones you've mentioned.

Hi, When I said "Nothing Happening" I didn't mean it literally, as now and again the odd topic pops up, but know where near like what it use to be.

As a visitor I was amazed at the community's knowledge and helpfulness, and everyday I visited there was something new and interesting, the classifieds were bursting at the seams with great stuff, members were laughing and joking with each other, there we're meet ups happening, it just seemed a great place to be.

I then had to go into hospital and when I came out I thought I would join as I would be house bound for a few weeks, but as soon as I did join it looked and felt like a bomb had gone off. That was three weeks ago and I can only see it getting worse everyday.

Now as you say there is even more choice out there and even a site that looks and feels like this forum before the bomb went off. Even with the same members of old that I respected so much. So apart from the classifieds, where are the reasons to stay? Where are these great ideas that the team promised?

As someone new, I hold no loyalties to this site like some, maybe if I had joined sooner then that would be a reason, but I do feel sad that I have missed out on the best this site had to offer in the past, I have a feeling that sooner rather then later the advertisers on this site will also see what has and is happening and then move else where, and then that will be the end.

Like many have told me before, I am new and maybe my view point doesn't count for much as others, but sometimes it's good to look at something with a fresh pair of eyes, loyalty is one thing, survival is something totally different.

Hi, Yep still here and still keep logging on daily awaiting for something to happen or news as promised by the PU team, been using the classifieds this last few days as well which is nice.

But things are happening on the other side of the fence a lot faster and more interesting then on here at the moment, it is worth checking out, so I do think time is one thing the PU team haven't got as a new site I have visited this week has implemented all the suggestions that were made on here right away, so why the delay here? Or am I missing something?

As for you're 18-55mm WR thread, yes will be interested in that, as I have only just bought one for what I think is a cheap price of $50 so interested in what this bargain can do.

Don't take this statement as I am trying to put this site down, as yes I am still here and don't see any point as yet to moving but everybody else seems to be moving with the times and having a lot of fun while doing it.

I am a Pentax user and nothing else, don't own any other branded camera, sad but true, so a site that deals in just Pentax is just fine by me.

But nothing's happening on here, at all, I was a visitor a good six months before I was a member and everyday I visited there was always something new and different and interesting conversations, now I know I have been told I have joined at the wrong time, but for other members to go and set up a new forum something major must have happened for it to go wrong, so badly and so fast.

So here and now we have members from this site split all across the web and surely there can only be one winner as I know I can't split myself like that, I haven't the time or energy and what I can make of it, is this site is still great for the classifieds and that's about it, The Pentax team did say they have new and different ideas they are going to implement to get this site back on track again? But what? It's gone rather silent on their part.

I will still log on everyday with hope that something happens for the good of this site, but at the moment like with anything in the modern market place there is better alternatives out there.

And I will be loving mine too, in a couple of days time, just a quick question to current users of this lens, I currently use a Lowepro vertex 200 to carry my longer, heavier lens, but is it possible to fit this lens in a shoulder type messenger bag? And if so what do you recommend.

I own one of these, great lens but then I am a big fan of these F and FA lenses from that period, the F35-70mm being my favourite.
As for price it does seem to be a touch on the high side but like John said it does depend on its condition, I would think £50/$85 or below is the price you should be aiming for, for a good working condition one.
