That's a view that is probably held by many here, but I doubt that those views have translated into many sales of the 645D (I've assumed you meant the 645D).

The same may well be true if/when a Pentax FF body is available.

The ideal cataloging program would allow you to designate both specific folders (which it can 'watch', (or not)) as well as individual files that might be 'imported' from any directory. If this program is also an editor (like Lightroom) then it should be able to 'save out' to any alternative directory and folder as well. All of this should be able to be controlled entirely manually. Of course, Lightroom would surely provide all of this, I am confident of that.
It does.

I have a short video including a clip of the clock taken in and around Salisbury Cathedral. The plaque on the exhibit states that it is "The oldest working clock in existence, made in or before 1386 ..." and at the time of my recording . . . it was still working.

I imagine the ropes joining the weights to the pulleys may have been replaced a few times over the years though.

Thank you for explaining. Now I can understand why you might want to save images back to a memory card. You can still do it in Lightroom, you just Export ( same as 'Save As' but spelled differently ) the image with any adjustments applied to your memory card.

As you have to import your images into lightroom, lightroom does dictate where you have your images, in photoshop you open say on a memory stick and save back to the memory stick.
Not so in lightroom.
With all due respect, that is utter rubbish.

Don't forget that we are talking here about images from a camera and the workflow of developing said images.

I don't have a clue why you would want to save back to a memory card, but you can if you wish in Lightroom. I shoot RAW, I want my images on my PC, when I have them there I back them up, then I put the card back in the camera and format it. After that, I edit my images, and backup catalogue.

In Lightroom, when you import your images from a memory card, you can tell it where you want them imported (saved) to. You can even make a second copy to a different location for backup purposes.

Alternatively, you can copy the contents of your memory card to anywhere you please, then import the images from there without moving them.

Always remember that the original image file, irrespective of its type, does not get changed in any way whatsoever, so it doesn't matter where it resides. Its the catalogue that knows where the file is and what adjustments have been made to it. Again, the original file remains unchanged.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about Lightroom, presumably from people who don't actually know how it works and are unwilling to try it.

I'd like to see a square format using the long side of the APS-C as the size. This way it would save having to turn the camera for landscape and portrait and you could crop to whatever size and shape you wanted. Quite a few of the medium format cameras, both film and digital are square format so why not a DSLR?
CHEERS Vic.
That would mean cropping every single shot!.... OUCH!

Not difficult with Lightroom. You can setup a preset with the crop dimensions which can be applied automatically when images are imported. It's all done for you. About all you might need to do is fine tune the crop selection for some images.

Thanks for sharing that, it probably explains your aunts concerns about going out alone with a shiny new camera.

And next we will need a tv at 96inch, to look at all ur F/F images ...
One of my local domestic appliance stores has a 106" flat panel TV on display with an awesome sound system. It's looping on a Bruce Springsteen concert, and has been for over a year now.

The image quality is exceptional, even close up, and a snip at a mere €64,999.00 (No, not a typo, almost sixty five grand).

Want? Not yet anyway. Need? probably never.

The kit I have now caters for all of my current photographic needs. A K5-II might be better for my low light race track meetings, but I get by with what I have now so it's unlikely that I'll upgrade yet.

I'm not sure that FF will afford me any benefits over my APS-C gear because I seldom print anything. I've shot events for my son with my gear and he has sold quite a few prints, but none much larger than 9" x 6". Modern camera phones can do that very respectably now.

Basically, what I want from Pentax has been said a thousand and more times by many. Faster and more accurate AF is top of my want list, hopefully the low light issue is now resolved by the K5-II. I don't really care about the size of the sensor.
