It's nothing to worry about. Both the K100D and K10D have a shake reduction system and they both make that same noise.

Chris,

I tried a ball 'n socket on my Manfrotto monopod. Result, awful to use.

The only articulation I really need on a monopod is unidirectional (side to side) to simply level the camera right to left.

Sigma 135-400mm APO. A brilliant affordable lens for your requirements. Roughly 200-600mm on a DSLR and great for animals with big teeth (you can stay well away). Oh, you'll also need one for insects, say a 100mm Macro. Then again you'll need something different for the landscapes (12-24mm or 16-45mm).

Moral: You really can't do it all with one lens, not even the 50-500mm Sigma (if you could get one).

Good luck,

G'day,

Yes they do, and I really can't understand why. Unless it is a primeval need to make a face to face purchase rather than an anonymous one over the 'phone or 'net.

Since the Internet age, I find myself looking around for the best price + backup service (in combination). Jessops are not well known for either. There are of course exceptions within any retail chain and I'm sure there must be some stores who employ knowledgeable and helpful staff, but not many.

I don't discount retailers entirely. SRS Microsystems is an example. I have bought many items from them, but I've never needed to visit their retail shop. I think they have a good balance of knowledge, 'net presence, and service.

It is a sad fact though, that the people who can least afford to lose savings, did so as a result of the scandal you mentioned.

Regards,

I can see a very tenuous link to Pentax/Digital/Photography in that Jessops occasionally sold Pentax branded equipment, but I think that your observations might have more relevance and interest elsewhere.

Who cares, really. They are more than likely going to go broke anyway. The only real relevance to this forum is whether any Pentax User members might have recourse to return faulty goods, which they will eventually be unable to do.

If consumers really cared about A N Other supplier, they would always buy from that supplier. The fact is, that the modern world demands rock bottom pricing, and that's where we buy from.

High Street retailers cannot supply at the prices we demand, so they go bust. Simple really.

Yes, Pentax AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ. If you want it to work properly, buy Pentax. There is a Sigma (something like DG500) that has had good reports. Just about any old Pentax fit flash gun will work fine in manual mode, but you need to do more work to get the exposure correct.

Pentax AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ. The former has a tilt/swivel head. The latter has only tilt.
