Jessops...more poor judgement?

I can see a very tenuous link to Pentax/Digital/Photography in that Jessops occasionally sold Pentax branded equipment, but I think that your observations might have more relevance and interest elsewhere.
Who cares, really. They are more than likely going to go broke anyway. The only real relevance to this forum is whether any Pentax User members might have recourse to return faulty goods, which they will eventually be unable to do.
If consumers really cared about A N Other supplier, they would always buy from that supplier. The fact is, that the modern world demands rock bottom pricing, and that's where we buy from.
High Street retailers cannot supply at the prices we demand, so they go bust. Simple really.

Hiya,
Peter, lots of users here buy items from Jessops, I just thought they might (or might not) like to know the kind of people they are dealing with....
cheers Steve.

G'day,
Yes they do, and I really can't understand why. Unless it is a primeval need to make a face to face purchase rather than an anonymous one over the 'phone or 'net.
Since the Internet age, I find myself looking around for the best price + backup service (in combination). Jessops are not well known for either. There are of course exceptions within any retail chain and I'm sure there must be some stores who employ knowledgeable and helpful staff, but not many.
I don't discount retailers entirely. SRS Microsystems is an example. I have bought many items from them, but I've never needed to visit their retail shop. I think they have a good balance of knowledge, 'net presence, and service.
It is a sad fact though, that the people who can least afford to lose savings, did so as a result of the scandal you mentioned.
Regards,

William Rollason was the Chief Executive Officer of European Home Retail (EHR), and he was heavily implicated in the (subsidiary company) Farepak scandal. The company went into administration in October 2006, owing money to thousands of members of its Christmas savings club. European Home Retail allegedly moved Farepak club members' money to the parent company, EHR, which was in financial difficulty.
Rollason is a non-executive director of the photographic retailer Jessops.
Bearing in mind the current situation that Jessops find themselves in and all the negative publicity surrounding them for the last year, do they really think it wise to have as a member of their board a man who is heavily implicated in a scandal in which some 140,000 low income families lost their xmas savings?
cheers Steve.....
