I doubt that you'll find a better prime lens anywhere than the 31mm Limited.

Yes it is suitable for digital and has the 'ghostless' coating to prevent the issues of reflections from digital sensors. It's an FA series lens which means it produces an image circle suitable for 35mm film cameras. The 1.5x crop factor means it'll have an angle of view equivalent to approx. 46mm on a Pentax DSLR.

Yes, I've used one. Astonishingly sharp, even wide open, with truly magnificent bokeh.

The downside: I think I'm right in saying (I don't have mine to hand at the moment) that the built-in hood is not removable which makes the fitting of filters difficult, if not impossible. Others will correct me soon enough if I'm wrong .

Hi all, while seaching for the best price for my new Pentax DSLR, came across this site, Digitalrev. com, they say they can do a K10D for £362.99 body only, does anybody know or had dealing with this site, before I part with my money, would post a link but not that clever.
thanks Dave
This has been discussed many times before. Beware of possibly having import duty & VAT to pay on top of that price.

Chris at www.SRSMicrosystems.co.uk has said he will do the body only for £399.00 to members of this forum (despite what price he has on the web). To me, that would be a much safer option for UK buyers.

Take a look at this .

Make sure you take it back to the store for a refund or replacement BEFORE it is 6 months old from the date of original purchase, with receipted proof of purchase. After 6 months the burdon of proof is on the consumer to prove that the goods were inherently faulty. Up to 6 months it's up to the supplier to prove that the goods were not faulty.

It is your legal right to demand a new one. Enough is enough when it has to be repaired so many times in succession.

I am trying to install the software from the supplied CD. Pretty as it looks, when I select a language - any language - the next dialogue box is in strange characters that don't even look to be Japanese.
By trial and error I managed to install the browser, but every combination failed when it came to the Laboratory software.
This sort of thing is stupid and the cost must be trivial compared to the investment in the camera itself.
Yes, I have registered and it makes no difference.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I get round this?
Check your 'Regional Settings' in Control Panel of your PC. Which country supplied the camera? Where are you in the world (roughly)?

The DG version is the newer of the two and is 'for digital' according to http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/telezoom/170-500mm.htm

I'm hoping to get an adapter setup on each so the K mounting will be seamless.
The adapter is designed to convert the body to accept screw mount lenses rather than convert the lenses to fit a K mount body. You'll need only one adapter.
As far as I know, you can't remover the adapter and lens together. First you unscrew the lens, then remove the adapter from the body with a small 'spanner' which is usually supplied with the adapter.

I have the FA 100mm Macro and I think I can speak for anybody else that has this lens, I'm not parting with mine.

For info: I got it for £400 . . . together with the accompanying *istD and 2 X 2Gb Lexar Pro CF cards. One of my better bargains.

Well everybody I have installed 2 x 1Gb chips today and I am now multi tasking to beat the band. No waiting for programmes to close down and messing about like before. I am very happy.
You are a good bunch of folk here and have been very generous with your advice.
Thanks
Tom
Well done, and a lot cheaper than a new PC. Thanks for your feedback.

Just ask a local PC company to fit 1 x 1Gb RAM. If it works, ask them to fit another. If that works and you end up with 2Gb, buy them both. If 1Gb sticks don't work you've lost nothing compared to buying one yourself only to find it is not supported by the motherboard.

Always check you have the latest BIOS update first.
