That's exactly what I mean. The colours are more pleasing to me. If that shot had the clouds too (you can always add them) it'd be a cracker. I appreciate your desire for the natural, if a bit dull, look too.

Excellent photo's, well done.

Beautiful. The lake looks like a mirror.

The pics lack something though, and I can't decide what it is. It's certainly not location, lighting, or composition. Contrast . . . saturation maybe. Don't know. They have a kind of milky appearance to me. Possibly haze, but not likely if it's around dawn.

Did you use a polarizer? If not, maybe you should have.

I've not much experience of studio flash but I think folks around here advocate a radio trigger system. Transmitter on camera, receiver on each flash head.

If you really want to use dumb slave mode you can get a cheap non-PTTL flash from ebay and use that to trigger your flash heads.

All this is done in manual mode so you might need a flash meter for exposure calculation.

Works best on a 'head 'n shoulders' portrait.

I think you are correct in your assumption but I'm no authority as I don't have a camera of your model. Both of my DSLR's use wireless PTTL.

To be honest, you should take the time to understand and master manual control of both camera and flash, fully auto has it's limitations and often produces disappointing results.

Have a read of this thread

This was talking about a K100D but I think the same is true of your model.

Maybe they don't allow it to be turned off because the results are rubbish if it is.

I'll not be buying a K20D yet (sorry Chris), the price of the K10D has halved since I bought mine just over a year ago. I'm sure the K20D will too, and it'll be a better camera by the time a few firmware updates have been applied and support for it's .PEF is not limited to Silkypix.

The K10D is all I need in a camera . . . for now. Besides, I used my Super-A for nigh on 20 years, I think my K10D can last a while longer yet.
