I suppose it depends on your budget. Personally, for a beginner, I'd suggest the 'normal' pair of Pentax/Samsung (same lens) 18-55mm & 50-200mm. They make a pretty good combination.

C+C could be posted as the last (blank pic) entry.
You wouldn't start a new thread, you'd start a new competition.

Even the poll graphic doesn't accurately reflect the numbers.

Hi Belinda
Not sure if you're aware, but you can now post in the gallery and the picture will be assigned to your user profile so it is easier to find.
We can post as many links as we like here, but only one (1) photo per day to the gallery ? ? ?

This is because you can pull one off the shelf and it's an easy/idle (depending how you look at it) approach for any web site to knock one up...which is why we had it when we launched Pentax user six years ago. Our new version integrates the forum and the gallery with a user registration and also allows us to create discounts when we add the shop and identify the user. It fits in with our subscriber data base too. All very well thought out and designed from a database and user perspective.

Also our forum is more secure, less likely to be hacked, unlike the original Pentax User one which got hit by spam every six months or so.

The narrower width is actually easier to read. It's a known fact that it's easier to read a line that's narrow which is why books and magazines are spilt into column grids. You may not have noticed. Show me a popular/successful magazine that uses singular column. I'm from a publishing background, unlike many of the designers/editors of web sites, so I believe from my experience I know a thing or two. Okay we may have missed a few useful bits that we didn't think were used, but we'll add those back. And you may prefer a different colour scheme and we'll consider this. These are small changes that don't take much doing.

I can't really see why you cannot enjoy a photo at 550pixels but I've already discussed this with David and we are considering an adjustment for this...to keep you happy.

"View posts since my last visit", sorted by date, thread and forum with an indication whether I've posted or am watching that thread. That's all gone, making this an exercise in futility. How anyone could think that this represented ease of use and a style familiar to just about every other forum out there is beyond me.
These are simple things that can be returned...and will be. As said before if we know what extra bits you want we can add them, without an issue.
Put simply then, this new site was primarily designed with profits in mind, hence the adverts, and without much (if any) research into what we forum users actually used, or wanted. I doubt that many of us ever actually used the Pentax User part of the site. I personally had a link in my favourites to the Forum, and still have.

Maybe it's time for a truly independent Pentax users forum where financial gain is of no importance.

I meant messages like this one, but of course I must learn to call them "comments".

See what happens when you use a terminological inexactitude. I used to call them 'posts' in the good old days (yesterday).

Come to think of it, if these are now called 'comments', why do we have the number of 'posts' against our names?

The competition will hopefully appear soon.
How soon John? It hasn't appeared yet.

I see that competitions now need approval. So are we limited to 09:00 - 17:00 now? Pants.

Competitions should go up straight away. Moderation is one thing, pre-approval?

The Stroboflex bracket is a bit expensive, but for me, at the time, it was the easiest and quickest option. I was never very interested in Blue Peter as a child so never got the hang of sticky backed plastic 'n string 'n stuff.

Note: Blue Peter is/was an english TV programme for children where they were renowned for making useless objects out of household bits 'n bobs.
Could you make a link for this bracket please.
Sure. I bought this. The camera, flashes, and cables are not included.

I'll try and post a pic of it all set up in a day or three.

Colours. (why is there no title for messages?)
Top right of the right hand column George. A nice little envelope icon, and the text "My Messages".

Is that what you were looking for?
What left hand column? I see no column. I am talking about replies, rather than new posts.

G
I'm not sure what you meant then. I assumed you meant Private Messages, and I wrote "top right of the right hand column" (above the adverts). What were you saying about over fifties?
