Yes we have done that for a reason, to keep the gallery at a good pace where everyone finds it manageable to view, comment and upload. It works extremely well on our other site ePHOTOzine. The advantage of uploading to the gallery is your photos, as you've now found, will appear in your profile, so people don't have to trawl around the forums trying to find pics by you. We believe you'll grow to like the feature and it will become another useful tool, You can still use the forums though, I'm just mentioning it in threads like this to grow awareness of the new feature.
