As I have both the K100D and the K7 lying around and I quite fancy giving IR photography a shot, figured I'd convert either one of the cameras. I can get it done in Poland this summer for 100-120 quid, depending on filter choice; which makes it a rather tempting opportunity.

Since I know very little about IR photography, question is, which camera, and why would be better for it. The small amount of info about the two seems to point K100D over K7 assuming you don't mind focusing headaches; the other way around for the ability to use LV. Naturally, a full spectrum conversion would make more sense with the K7 if I am understanding the focusing issue right? Or is it possible/practical to focus before attaching a filter on?

Will there be a substantial difference in IQ from the two cameras? Are there any other potential issues to consider?

what you are after is a RAW file competition You pic has been processed by Ricoh engineers instead of you Where is the glory in that? It's no different now than it was in the film days. Just more easily accessible. Photography is a complex process and does not end with a shutter release. Nice photo nevertheless; you'd get even more 'punch' straight out of the box if you were a Canikon user. They pack it 'shiny'; the masses love it.
