Definitely download
Capture One image quality is better than PS RAW, IMO (and others'). (But not as good as Silkypix IMO!)
The key on mine said it was valid until March... but I registered it fine the other day
There's a guide I did to help you along:

Matt
I have just downloaded C1 LE Sandisk trial, it seems to have downloaded a 15 day version, so went into licence activation to put in key no (which is valid till March 2008!) and it rejects it!
Have I got to wait till this 15 day trial runs out before I can put the key in again, seems a complicated way of doing it, anyone had this problem, all help advice gratefully recieved, Lilly

Just been checking the forum and Matts Guide before I downloaded, I have now realised C1 LE still only supports .pef format.
I have read that it is said .pef files are a lot larger in size than .dng, can anyone give me and idea as to how much bigger approx. they wd be?
At the moment my DNG import in at about 16MB and when edited and converted to TIF, 55MB.
Lilly
The compression is lossless, so there is no pain, only gain.

At the mo' I am using PS CS2 to convert my RAW Dng's.
Should I download this as a better alternative to PS CS2 for converting my RAW's?

p.s. if you need someone to carry your camera bag on the trip, well I
have got some holiday time due !
Sorry, Ammonyte the offer of bag carrying was for Lilly !!!
In the past seven years I have been around the the world 3 times, spending on average 6 months away. 7 years ago I met a couple in India who confided in me their backpacks were 10% clothes and the rest photo/tech gadgets! I was . How little did I know they were forcasting my future..!!
I used to Um, Ahh and ponder which clothes to take for 6 months away. Packing has now developed into quite a simple affair, I too have become one of those people and life is a lot more interesting
NOW....why is it everyone get so excited about Apple???
Is it because we are photographers and it is much better suited to our media?
I have heard you can't get the range of software for it like a PC, but then if you are just editing photographic work mainly, that wd not be a disadvantage?
Can someone please concisely list a few pointers in order of importance why I should buy a MAC notebook over a PC?

Lilly that sounds an exciting trip - where are you going?

I've been a bit quiet recently, because (a) busy and (b) I've been playing with my new toy, a MacBook. I gave in to the siren voices around here!
I'll mainly use it when traveling, and so will still do most of my PS work on the PC at home. It's first test comes this weekend with the Maryport Blues festival in Cumbria http://www.maryportblues.com/. Shame it is sponsored by Fosters - last year it was Jennings
I am also thinking of getting one of those GIGA Jobo Ones as a standby.
Forgive me if this sounds a daft question but I have to ask:
: If I too contemplate an apple over a PC, will there be any conflict at all with doing main PS work on the files when I get home to my PC :

Centre the detail more, loose the white at the edges, looks very odd, especially as it is not present in all corners.
I don't think seeing the outlying areas of the pebble are important and it allows you to cut out the yellow bit in the background.
Then you are just left with the contrast and texture of the seaweed ( ? ) and the stone.

Here is another on a similar theme that I took yesterday down the rock pools, really gonna have to get a macro, it's beginning to tear me apart!
Now, do you think I sd crop out the bottom left dark rock or not LOL I am always afraid to take too much away.

Taken with my trusty 18-55!
It was taken on a pebble sand bar as is, after the tide receeded, no flower arranging from me.

Would the Pentax CD Software S-SW55, that came with the camera (I never actually loaded it as I went into CS2) containing Browser 3 & LAB 3 be the Silkpix version you refer to or do I need to download from a site for the trial?
