Sea & Stone

This is an arty shot I am experimenting with, comments welcome please.
Taken with my trusty 18-55!
It was taken on a pebble sand bar as is, after the tide receeded, no flower arranging from me.

Centre the detail more, loose the white at the edges, looks very odd, especially as it is not present in all corners.

I don't think seeing the outlying areas of the pebble are important and it allows you to cut out the yellow bit in the background.

Then you are just left with the contrast and texture of the seaweed ( ? ) and the stone.

Tyr's right, but it's great raw material for a really good pic. Lovely, delicate colours. Well spotted.

Would loved a macro lens for that kind of shot! Can get in really close and cut out all the background.

Thank you Tyr for constructive comments, it's good to get another view, sometimes I can't see for looking as they say, anyway have hopefully improved it, I agree it looks cleaner and more focussed:




Here is another on a similar theme that I took yesterday down the rock pools, really gonna have to get a macro, it's beginning to tear me apart!
Now, do you think I sd crop out the bottom left dark rock or not LOL I am always afraid to take too much away.



DA18-55 f/8 @ 1/90s hand held with SR on!

I might have cropped it even tighter on the left to where the 'crack' line is on the stone. It is more 'focused' on the subject area now that it has been cropped.

The highlights on the right in the second picture look a little burned, while the black rock is very dark. Those shots can be very difficult when the rock is wet and the sun is shining. My favourite part of this image is not the floating bits on the right but those in the lower left hand corner which are submerged, they have a nice soft and relaxing look and the black rock isn't really distracting at all, suits is well.
