@MarkD: there's nothing wrong with being an armchair critic. When I read your comments I thought a number of times: OMG, why didn't I think of that myself! Thinking back, I did try to go a bit more to the right when taking #2 but the position of the sun and its reflection in the water didn't really leave me much space to move around.

I meant to go out again today and take some more pics (I do like that lens), but unfortunately work commitments stopped me from doing so (most of my students have to take tests this week and next week and that involves lots of work ). Hope to catch up with all the other pics and posts over the weekend!

I don't like beating, so I'm not going to say anything.

For what it's worth: there's too muck black in the foreground for my liking, so I'd probably crop it a bit and I don't much like the flare(?) on the left. It's drawing too much attention.

I love the lines and shapes in this picture! As Martin says, it would have been perfect if the waiter (or whoever it is) had been one step further ahead, but I think it's superb as it is.

Difficult to compare (as they're not identical). As shown here, I prefer number 2: a more 'pronounced' sky and stronger lines. Both nice pictures though!

Like it, Pauly! Have seen St Paul's a few times when visiting London, but never from this angle.
