ALternatively you may be able to pick up a second hand Pentax 24-90, one of the last full frame 35mm lenses but works very well on my K10D

I've been through this, and the only answer to the miniscule sensor size on digi compacts is to get a second hand film compact and a half decent film scanner

Thanks, photobucket did the trick; I opened an account especially as my usual galleries don't cross link

sorry if this is a FAQ, maybe could do with a sticky?
it looks like yo have to link to a website? if so how do you just get the ppic and not whole page (eg ephotozine or photo.net)?

I would like to put up a reflection before comp end date

This week a review of the Pentax 100mm macro beats Sigma and compares very well with a much more expensive Nikon. Canon not even invited to the party!

My prediction for what its worth

digital sensor technology and digital storage technology will continue to evolve.

We will all end up with digital video cameras built into spectacles capable of recording every image in front of our face for a lifetime

The trick then will be to use powerful search engine technology to find each and every vision/memory according to key word

Everybody will be able to search and see everybody elses images using Napster type file sharing technology

And it will all end in tears

Thanks for all th esuggestions, but they are just too bulky for the requiremnts I listed above, ie just to protect and carry SLR with attached lens, no additional pockets etc

Please can you recommend make, model and size of a pedded camera case for my K10D and Pentax 16-45 to meet following requirements

Needs to have sufficient padding to protect camera/lens;

But compact enough not to get in way when climbing/skiing etc, ie snug fit and no superfluous accessory pockets etc;

Needs to have option for belt attachment enabling bag to be slid from hip to behind back, and also detachable neck/shoulder strap;

What would be really useful is an internal fixing loop to secure camera strap (or strong cord to one or both camera strap fixing points) to protect against dropping camera without having to put camera strap around my neck before using it.

I need this to get more, and hopefully much better shots like my Vulture and ice climbing pics here

without worrying about dropping my new camera

Many thanks

Kevin

Hi John

I will no doubt buy a K10D, but maybe not today! What with photography being one of a number of expensive hobbys, including climbing, skiing and competitive cycling

However I am looking forward to seeing if my film gear is still up to it, and doing some side by side comparisons with the DS

Besides I have a film that needs finishing off

I must call into a shop sometime and see what the K10D feels like

Kevin
