off to Lakes tomorrow after some high res landscapes

Do I buy a couple of rolls of Velvia for my MX and film scanner(£20 inc processing), or a new K10D (£550 ish) in place of my istDS?

I can thoroughly recommend the K10D which offers more detailed, smoother shots than the *istDS.

It is, of course, a personal choice.

In terms of cost, in the long run the film route is very expensive.

What do you think you will do?
Best regards, John

Hi John

I will no doubt buy a K10D, but maybe not today! What with photography being one of a number of expensive hobbys, including climbing, skiing and competitive cycling

However I am looking forward to seeing if my film gear is still up to it, and doing some side by side comparisons with the DS

Besides I have a film that needs finishing off

I must call into a shop sometime and see what the K10D feels like

Take your credit card or cheque book. You will not want to give it back once you've handled it.

Isn't that a bit like saying, do I buy fish fingers or the smoked salmon?

I'll second John's advice and also Mannesty's, having never actually used Velvia or an MX I cant really comment, (I used Elitechrome in my latter days of transparency and never got around to Velvia )

I can thoroughly recomend the lakes tho'

PS quick edit.....all this talk of going to the lakes made me think of you as Kirby Stephen!
My Names Alan, and I'm a lensaholic.
