Thanks to ChrisA who answered my original question by reminding me that SR's off with the use self timer / remote anyway (I'm at that age now).

Hello all, I'm the latest newbie to the site, I would like to thank all for the depth of knowledge that has been passed on in these threads.

A quick question, I'm proud K10D owner, why does all the sources say to turn off shake reduction when using tripod?, what actually changes as I can see nothing obvious, apart from the fact you don't need it.

thanks again kerrowdown

My vote goes with the MkII Benbo, high, solid construction, versatile like no other in operation, inverted legs (biggest tube on the outside at the base of leg) means water & muck proof up to 3 feet approx, smooth action BS head (I added extra revolving base for extra luxury).

HI all, probably a bit on the late side this reply, but hey. I have just changed over to Crumpler (750 Dailey) after many years with Lowepro.

I liked the messanger bag style ie taller/deeper which allows longer lens to remain on camera bodies.

Time will tell about durability.

Well blow me down it works, I would never have found that out without this forum, special thanks to John Riley & ChrisA for that.

Is there any real delay in firing shutter i.e. the runner has run through the "sweet spot" assuming of course on fast lenses a fairly shallow DOF being used to keep shutter speeds up as high as possible?

A further explaination please from Pentaxian450 on this method. I aways shoot with manual lenses, I prefocused on a spot, TAv mode set, but my K10D is happy to take pictures out of focus, it won't wait for things to snap into focus and then do its thing automatically.

I guess it's me doing something dumb, or rather not doing something, please let me know as this would be a great user feature for me as a sports photographer.
