Thanks for comments. Yes I also like the first one and think it works well.

Both created using a shot of grass.

Personally I am a big fan of minimalist abstract art. Just wondered if anyone else likes this sort of thing. Comments, suggestions very welcome.

Well here's the story behind mine.....I was being entertained at a boxing evening with my wife. I went to the bar to get us both a drink, and I came back after about 10 minutes without any drinks but with this photograph instead. The boxers weren't the only ones who got shiners that night ....

Your avatar - what is it, what does it stand for, why did you choose it?

They're not bad actually - the first two work the best, especially the 2nd one because it is difficult to tell exactly what it is. It looks like hair.

In my opinion these would have failed if you could tell that they are 'just running water on a lon exposure' but you certainly can't with number 2.
The brown colour also helps to disguise the fact that it is water.

I would try some more and aim to get them even more abstract.

Is the 16-45 not wide enough? That would be in budget

Mine had a horrible green cast to them.
For future ref can this cast be removed in elements (I don't have Lightroom)?
If you were to take an image of a photographer's grey card whilst using the elder's glass, you would have an accurate colour reference which you could then use to adjust all of the images in a batch.
Thanks for the advice Peter. I always shoot in RAW so I guess I could correct this in the RAW editor.

Thanks everybody for taking the time to give me some feedback - it's all much appreciated and very welcome.

What I have noticed, and this is odd, is that I didn't think the balcony shot was too much of a big deal - a bit cliched. But I am really pleased with the 2 shots of Bridgewater Place. This is the opposite of general opinion so I don't understand what's happening there :

It was an overcast day so I have admittedly heavily processed them to add some interest, I believe this has added to the purple fringing (PF?) on shot 1.

I'll have a good read through the suggestions and comments and see what I can take from them. Thanks again.
