Feeling uninspired

Met up with my mate yesterday for an informal meet and just to run off a few shots. I felt completely uninspired and found it difficult to get started. Remarkably I actually ended up with a higher than normal number of use-able shots.
BTW none of these are HDR, I have tweaked them in Elements.
Comments appreciated...

I love balconys. Could only be improved by having someone leaning over one of them!!!

Thanks Smeggy, I think you are correct there, a person would have added something to that shot.

Yes - balconys is excellent. Inspired, in fact . Nice spot and, like Smeggy suggests, you can probably do even more with this location given different light and/or luck with residents

I think the first one could be made interesting with a careful mono conversion, and maybe a square crop to echo the cubic shapes of the balconies?

The rest are a bit drab and feel a bit awkward, although the awkwardness of shot 4 might actually work to your benefit if you tweak the levels a bit.

I really like Balconys; as Smeggy said, it's a shame there's no-one looking over one of them, but that's down to chance. I like the composition. The middle three don't do much for me at all, the composition of them seems a bit random; Train Station especially. Bridgewater Place, with that dark wall on the right and the building leaning, looks a bit awkward. These three also look to me like they have been over-processed, to the point that they have lost sharpness.

The last one is interesting, with the contrast between the rust and the building, and the people giving it a sense of scale.

Like the first one, all the others seem to have a slight halo round them which is a bit off putting.

Agreed about the first - i like the reflection you managed to catch in the glass on the bottom L hand balcony.

I also like the second one BUT I would like to see if it can be shot again with some slight changes . I love the curves on the roof section - they must actually form a segment of a circle - fascinating

The thing/s I don't like, and I don't really think that cropping this one will help, are those darn intrusive cables and I don't see how you could clone them out - they're too heavy and too noticeable . I'd like to see it cropped at the bottom edge just below those sort of windows and a bit off the sky as well . There's some nice detail in the buildings behind the station

wonder what Nanhi would say about these comments - totally un technical - perhaps he would show us some examples of his work and give us the benefit of his comments on this series of Photos

Love 1 but the PF is quite strong and a bit distracting (as no-one else has mentioned it perhaps I am missing something but what the hell!).

I actually like the shapes in 2 (I seem to be a bit against the grain here too!..)

I think its good you "felt" uninspired but took some keepers.

No I noticed it too but couldn't work out if it was PF or just the harshness of the light in the reflections... but that was partly why I suggested a mono conversion.

Thanks everybody for taking the time to give me some feedback - it's all much appreciated and very welcome.

What I have noticed, and this is odd, is that I didn't think the balcony shot was too much of a big deal - a bit cliched. But I am really pleased with the 2 shots of Bridgewater Place. This is the opposite of general opinion so I don't understand what's happening there :

It was an overcast day so I have admittedly heavily processed them to add some interest, I believe this has added to the purple fringing (PF?) on shot 1.

I'll have a good read through the suggestions and comments and see what I can take from them. Thanks again.
