It certainly is a good walk. And if you don't fancy the climb over Allen Crags and Glaramara, it can be an excellent "out-and-back" walk along one side of the valley and back down the other side for a totally different set of views.

Hope you don't mind if I pile on the photos a bit in this topic. It's views of the Langstrath "hidden" valley in Borrowdale from almost 4 years ago, never posted and just re-processed. It starts from Rosthwaite, goes out along the bottom, steeply up and round to Allen Crags, returning to the start over Glaramara. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated very quickly after Allen Crags, so that's where the photos end! All taken with K-3 and DA 16-85. Please feel free to comment, as always

What a fantastic day out! Hope it gives a few minutes distraction from current affairs!

Personal preference, obviously, but I do prefer the original. I like the tones better, and, for me, the crop makes for a much squatter impression, when the tallness of the building in the original was a central part of its appeal. Removing the height, for me, transfers the focus of the image to the dead-end of the alley, bypassing the building on the right and reducing the depth of the view.

Well, you did ask, John!

Very nice! Lifted from the ordinary into something very pleasing on the eye by the lovely shadows.
