Oh dear, Gareth, how frustrating! It's all over now up here, too - as you say, very few leaves still hanging on.

Thanks for your kind comments, all - the hardest job here was deciding which ones to leave out! It certainly was a lovely day in a lovely place.

If you have been looking at my more recent posts, you may be glad that this is going to be my last for this year of concentrated autumn hues! We had an outing to Thorp Perrow arboretum near Bedale, North Yorkshire to meet our daughter in the open air on the last day before the current lockdown. The weather was very kind and the colours and light were begging to be photographed! Hope these appeal All taken with K-1 and DFA 28-105.

Thanks, Serge, for your comment, which is as thought-provoking as your photographs often are - and none the worse for that! If I understand you correctly, you seem to say that you often prefer B&W because you see it as more likely to make the viewer think. Colour landscapes, for you, are more likely to restrict thought simply by virtue of presenting a more literal view of what was seen, even though the scene may be very nice to look at. I assume this is what you mean by "don't take me anywhere beyond."
If my understanding is correct, I have no problem with what you say. I think that, personally, and at the moment, I would fall into the category of those who might say, "Yes, I like that, even though I'm not quite sure why." I need (and would like) to look into the world of B&W photography to broaden my understanding of it.

Thank you, all, for your comments. I think my own favourite of these is no.5, for its big brazen splash of a lovely warm colour - the detail of it for me is less important than the colour.

3 is good, but 1 and 2 are superb. Love the OOF aspects of them.

Thanks, John. The soft warmth of the sunlight, as well as the novelty of the mist in the valleys, really made it hard to mess up, photographically speaking!

I've seen temperature inversions before, mainly in the Lake District, but never before so close to home. Right place, right time is all I can say! Hope these appeal as much as the views did to me at the time, just a couple of days ago. K1 + DFA 28-105

No more in this sequence, I promise! And thanks if you're still with me! Finishing off with four images taking a wider view outwards from the canal. Hope you have found something to like if you've got this far!
