K3 purchase now on hold
Yes, I'd certainly be spitting feathers if I bought one, and then the -60 range was swiftly followed by a K-3 Mk 2, with significantly improved high-ISO performance.
There be no K3 MkII, not for a good bit yet at any rate, besides it's practically perfect!

I can't say I disagree with that. There is nothing wrong with being the leading APSC manufacturer. But this new Fuji is a challenge to that and a sign of future challenges to come. All early new technology products have their failings. But they normally win out in the end as the innovation progresses.
I'd actually like Pentax to be King of APSC, because, well because someone has to be! I'd like em to attack the market with a line of APSC based mirror-less cameras too, they'd only need a few lenses to flush out a mirror-less system and they could provide adapters to work with our current lenses too.
There is very little evidence to say that APS is dying, it's market has shrunk from about 95%-85% of interchangeable Lens Camera sales in ten or so years, mainly because mirror-less and FF were not competitors way back then in fact not in existence at all.

One from the journey home, after this we went down the business quarter and attacked some of the bars (Far better than the dives of Rose St, CAFE ROYAL and GUILDFORD ARMS excepted, ok not technically on Rose St but they are always good and worth a mention)...

I have no particular desire for a KL, although I know many do, because I don't see the point in buying something just because it looks like something from the past.

This may seem like a contradiction as I've been enthusiastic about my MX-1, but that enthusiasm isn't because it pays lip service to the MX of old. It doesn't look anything like it in reality, any more than any compact digital camera can look like any film SLR. The MX-1 is a delight in what it is, and it borrows some aesthetic qualities that it has in common with things that appealed about the original MX. Its beauty lies in what it is and what it does and the fact that it's really well made.

Back to the KL, if it happens we'll see how many buy it or not, but it is worth doing as it will appeal to some. Of course if it just so happens that it turns out to be a really ergonomic DSLR design, then I will be interested.

The K600 and K60 seem logical extensions of the current range. The K50 in particular is a really great camera, so a new chip with more pixels seems logical enough.

Meanwhile, my K-5 bodies keep soldiering on...and I'm loth to upgrade even the K20D as it's in pristine condition and worth more than anyone would pay for it.
He He.
Got to say, every time I've picked up a K50, I've been impressed but I'd like something that isn't a K3 that can pretty much go toe to toe with it, if it had to. (If my Camera jinx strikes and the K3 has to go in for repair!) So in a pinch do the K3 job, K5II, erm I decided no in the end, I want something a little smaller but not so tiny and frustrating I end up chucking it in the river, oh yeah and weather sealed just in case I do...
I don't see why I should sacrifice on the sensor though and was about to pull on the Fuji Xe-2 (no weather sealing)but I'll now wait to see what these new Pentax's, if real turn out to be like...

It's getting interesting again, the KL if simple to operate and not an ergonomic nightmare like the Nikon DF, could be just the ticket but alternatively so could a K60...

Compactness, build quality and weather sealing. These are the big Pentax advantages that attracted me. Pentax is still ahead of Nikon And Canon for me in that regard. But Sony and Fuji are making big statements and Pentaxians are liking what they see there (as are owners of Nikons and Canons too). Olympus have said they want a piece of dslr action as well. The marketplace is becoming increasingly crowded and Ricoh will have to show their hand soon so I am sure that there is a lot of substance to those rumours. This will be an interesting year no doubt.
Agree there, and its beginning to look like the first loser will be Panasonic...

Sony A7R has to take the award for best executed idea.
It's all great news that Ricoh are putting so much effort into the Pentax brand.
Agree, the problem with the A7(r) and to some extent the Fuji, though this one is an unknown quantity, is can you see it being your only camera?

I Can see them as being a supplement to, or for something when you want to slow down and/or shoot for fun but not as a replacement for a DSLR.
The Sony slows down painfully if you want to do continuous AF shooting for one thing, and I've tried an Xe-2, which was worse at tracking AF than a K5, I am undecided on either but in their own way both are great products, depends what you want them for really.
I'm currently back on the fence, as I want a very small carry everywhere system for my own personal shooting and different to the K3 which I lug about for the day job, there will always be some crossover here but if Pentax can come up with the goods so much the better, the waiting for CP+, just became unbearable...

K-l could be interesting if true .. just been reading about the new Olympus OM-D E-M10, nice looking camera with decent specifications.
Me too, I also like the Fuji XT-1, however, I still cannot see it doing everything well, the Jpegs out of Fujicams are beautiful but other than that, why should I downgrade to get a Fuji?
The Pentax weather sealing plus point appears to be being eroded daily and they are going to have to find a new hook...

Actually If true, (it may also be an old rumour, as I read somewhere this was all meant to happen by Nov 2013) I could get quite enthused by either a K60 or a KL and have decided to put off any buying decisions until after CP+...

The two features I'd like to see on the K60, as compared to the K50, would be the return of the top LCD and battery grip. If they do that, I'll buy one for sure.
One out of two isn't bad in this day and age...
I may have read the K60 details wrong though...

Hmm A7 YES!
D800 NOOOOOO!!!

D800 sensor is in no way better than the K5 and not as good as in the K3 either, Alright I just don't like it...
A7r is better but that just goes to show what can be done when there is actually something to compare to, I just think that the A7r found Nikon Out!
Nikon DF has the best sensor for what you want Smeggy in probably the worst body ever!
A7 is the best by far of those, my opinion of course!
Just don't get it with the D800, had two hated em both (Both had problems!) and I just didn't like the Pictures that came out of em, which is unusual as I've been a Nikon user for 25+ Yrs. Switched em for a D600 pairing or as I like to refer to it the D666!
Back to Pentax for a Camera that does what it says on the tin
