Well short of spending 600 quid on photoshop or a tenner a month subscription for it's free transform and distortion tools, there ain't a lot you could do, 14mm is 14mm and if thats what you've got well you know... They would have looked an awful lot worse if you'd had to crop the tip of the tower off, the jaunty "dutch tilt" on the tower/sea shots, gives them a sort of reportage feel that I quite like actually.
I was a big fan of the Sigma 8-16mm but even my Cumbrian mountains disappear to pin pricks at the wide end losing all the impact, I found it hard to use effectively and I too finally settled on the SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL [IF], which I find to be a super peice of glass...

My point to David really, the K3 helps! It's nice not to have to fight a Camera to get it to do what you want, the K3 is that camera for me anyway. It's the meter more than anything, it's like the one I used to have on my Nikon F5, which was specifically set up for slide film and the K3 meters just like it, I find it briliant.
My Nikon D610 in comparison was a metering nightmare, I ended up going back to centre weighted full time because at least I could work out what process it was using to assesss the light. In the D610 the metering is weighted to the point of focus and there is no way round it in Matrix.

Lovely set of images. They underline the message that its not the camera that makes the picture, its the photographer who takes it.

Thanks David,
My long suffering other half piped up last weekend, she doesn't usually say much about Camera's etc, as she's not really interested in it all, she just likes the walking but...
"You always get on better with a Pentax don't you? It's the first time in ages I haven't seen you fighting with the Camera to get it to do what you want!"
She is, as she is about all things, absolutely right!

A very enjoyable set.I especially liked the Blea Tarn photo, "Evening Light" just to see what it's like in nice weather, unfortunately I was there in August and the weather was rather poor.
Thanks Stan, one of the perils of Cumbria that I'm afraid, If you can't see the Lake it's raining, if you can it's about to!

Captivating set Jules - particularly 'Evening Light'. Good to see you back on form.

If these were taken last Saturday - we must have virtually crossed paths as I started the day near Wast water but then moved over to Derwent and Ullswater. Although your walking looks to have been more strenuous than mine as I stayed closer to the banks of lakes - with the exception of a short hike up to Aira force waterfall.

Carl
Being bus bound (No Car) I simply cannot get to Wast water, so I am very jealous of you there Carl! I would have been out there somewhere last Saturday, I'm in the Lakes most weekends...
Started off in grasmere, off to Easdale Tarn, then Codale Tarn, up Belles knott (For which my other half hates me!:blush over Blea crag to Stickle Tarn then down Tarn Crag (For which she hates me more!:lol to Dungeon Ghyll Force and a quick trot to the old Dungeon Ghyl Hotel for the bus...
Only about seven linear miles but all up and down, so as you say strenous, my legs were like jelly when we got back down
