Pentax SMC 100MM F2.8 WR Macro and
Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di
So I start looking at reviews then I come across this
http://www.tamronlensreview.com/tamron90macrovspentax100macrowr
Strikes me as a very biased peice of writing with at least a few facts out of place!
It really sticks in my throat when I see biased writing like this
Any way I want to garner opinions on the two lenses, unbiased if possible please...
My pluses for the Pentax are Quickshift implementation (Over the Tamron Shift method)and build quality,
for the Tamron price and focus limiter
but what about the actual image quality:
Never been that much of a Macro Shooter and the lens would probably see more use as a dedicated Landscaping Prime but I will use it for the odd Macro, fits nicely in between my 77 and 200...

Stefan and Unlocker you are ringing bells!
Many thanks...
I think I'm starting to get the hang of the K7 and I think it's worth persevering with, as it can only make me a better Post Processor in the long run:
The light was sooo Bad yesterday! Forecast was for sunshine with light fluffy clouds, So I went to the English Lake District, which is only a short bus ride away for me. That'll teach me to believe the Met Office! Didn't bring me Tripod so All these are with the k7 and Limiteds at between 1/6th and 1/20th of a second handheld, SR Works...

Last two shots are of Nab Ghyll near Rydal Mount Hall, Actually put my foot in that one! Brrr...

[quote:3496ace15f="jules"] Look at the glossy photo magazines and they are full of such photos. It is the landscape equivalent of the extremely thin DOF shot... looks dramatic but it is not an expression of how we normally look at a scene. I like them well enough, but for regular day-to-day landscape shooting prefer something less showy and more representative.
I find myself now always taking a couple with the 21 as well when I spot the really wide shot with the 15, because more often than not I'll like the 21 version better

I owned the 12-24mm for a short time and mine spent all it's time at 24mm. I think I pulled this one off but it's a rarity for me...

Morning Jules
I note that you have both the 15 Ltd and 21, do you find they are complimentary or does the 15 take the place of the 21. I currently have the 21 and use it a lot, but just wonder if the 15 would replace or compliment or only have a limited role to play.
Thanks for any insight you may be able to offer.
Jim

The amount of body caps,, lens caps, terminal caps, I have lost is unbelievable
Worst when I can see it happening and can't stop it! I've rolled em off cliffs and allsorts, My Partner has threatened to carry spares or do the Mother thing and put em on a long peice of string thru my jacket like with kids mittens
Yeah I can see me being in the Doghouse for losing the 40, sort of leaning toward a kr body and just leave it on there as my walk around/go anywhere ready cam.

I don't know theres just something about the feel of em I don't like, maybe it's the "ZEN" finish: I've just never warmed to any Sigma I've tried, I don't think I'm a gear snob... No really I'm not.............
