I wonder what people mean by "build quality" - it's one of those wonderfully vague terms that could mean almost anything. Some might think it means made of metal, heavy and solid. I could imagine some manufacturers adding weight into a design purely to fool us.
When I look at the D-FA 100mm macro I see a compact lens, solidly built but not over-heavy, with impeccable finish. Results are excellent and it's far more compact than the FA version that I eventually sold on.
What do you see?
I see exactly what I said, I was prepared for what I got and just that really! I got what was expected, not disasapointed and not over the moon, I went for the Lens that would do and it will...
Nothing inferred by the "Build Quality" at all save for the want of something to call the way a lens is screwed together...

I get the quibbles some people have about the build quality, it seems adequate no more than that however and it hunts a bit. Despite the fact that I ws expecting all of this I'm a little underwhelmed
Not going to buy another though I'm keeping it, it's very sharp and I'll learn to live with it
Just got off the Phone to Curry's where I got it from, I couldn't in the end afford an extra £100 to get it from Warehouse Express et al and so took the risk, The Lens was delivered in a Jiffy Bag, rolling around in the box with the hood detached and no Packing inserts in the box, also the Storage pouch was missing!
Thats the risk of going this route as I've already read in other threads here, the upshot is my Lens is ok but it's had quite a trip buy the looks of it. You pays yer money and ya gets what ya get...
Enjoyed giving Currys a good rollicking far too much though

Any more positive experiences out there?

There's my problem, I'm not all that bothered about WR As not all my other Lenses are WR anyway, and if the old DFA gives the same image quality save for a bit of Bokeh, I find it hard to justify in my own mind Stumpimg up twice as much money for a lens that will give in all probability the same results. Despite it's lovely build quality I'm not about to throw it about, So good enough will be good enough methinks. For about £500 I'd want SDM and a limiter as well as quickshift
Is lovely though...

Ok I'm lusting for the 100WR again but honestly I just don't think I can swing it, so apart from the Metal tube it sits in (Build Quality, front element coating and of course the WR), what would I miss from the WR if I got the old DFA?
Anything optically better about it???
I have quickly come to realise how valuable quickshift is...

I am surprised to see links posted on Pentax User to what
is nothing more than malware (previous releases anyway).
WARNING CHECK REPORTS BEFORE INSTALLING EVEN THE DEMO
BE PREPARED TO RE-INSTALL WINDOWS:
See loads of sites on Google or link
Edit: Even Macs are having problems:
link
I posted the link to a genuine website for Software that I use on a day to day basis that has been updated for new users of K5's Like myself, that would like to edit RAW.
I get no malware problems here and the release is new! I thought it odd that they do not mention the K5 which was my main reason for posting and yet the latest release opens K5 Raw and edits them perfectly
No malice or conspiracy here!
Can I assume you do not like DXO?
Or you have a History with them?
Seriously I'd like to know as I do not want to use destructive Software myself but have always found the guys at DXO very imformative and helpful, I bought the Software, I hope it's not another Faux Pas (See what I did there? French see, DXO French See!)On my part and I've bought something Nasty in some way...
