Bought a Dakine Sequence Photo Backpack Early this Year.
http://www.dakine.com/sport-packs/photo/sequence/
Because, well because I'm sick of Lowepro really... Not that they've ever done me any harm but they always seem heavy for what they are. Unfortunately it has a Flaw with the Harness arrangement which means it rubs and almost caused me to lose my kit! I have both a bad back and arthritis in most of my joints so the bag weight is pretty important to me as it allows me to maximise on the gear side. So I tried a Kata Bumblebee today but it would not let me fit all my gear in nor let me fit in my 300mm DA* stood up. So I'm getting a Kata Owl in instead to try out, if this un is no good I'll be after carrying suggestions...
Gear Lst
K5 with 21mm Ltd Attached
15mm/40mm/70mm Ltd's
DA*50mm-135mm (current) or maybe a DA* 60-250 in the future?
DA* 300mm
Newly aquired 10-17mm Fisheye
Manfrotto 190 Carbon Fibre four sction Tripod
I like a bit of room to stuff a Jacket and Sarnies etc this seems to be where some Backpacks fall down in my opinion, loads of gear room but nowt for anything else...
Given all this, any fairly lightweight Pack options out there?
Read most reviews but I want to stick with gear thats easily gettable in good old Blighty.
So no go, on Click Elite or F stop packs...etc
Any good Info gratefully recieved

All the Gear and no Bag to put it in!

Yes - after I posted I realised they'd probably look v. different bigger!

Second time today Nik software's been mentioned to me... is it any good? Looks pretty pricey but I have a feeling one day I might need to go beyond just LR3 for PP.
Hi Tim, Yes I'm afraid they're very good!
Pricey yes but capable of an enormous amount of effect very quickly and in a controlled/repeatable manner, they plug nicely into Lightroom too.
I can do things with these that I would struggle with in Photoshop, Everything is however do-able in Photoshop, it would just take me far
longer... (others mileage is however bound to vary:twisted

NIK's filters are very good +1 vote from me anyway!

If you need to get a long exposure to create certain effects with waves and water, then you need a physical filter. No amount of post is going to recover info out of blown highlights from an exposure measured in whole seconds.
There is one way and that's to stack multiple exposures.

btw the perfect way to replace GND digitally is to use mutliple exposures as well but with different exposure values so you get a kind of HDR but more selectively so to say.
That Works too Stefan!
I have had troubles there though with the skys, and those damn clouds moving and stuff! I wish that everything would just hold still when I try to photograph it

Know the feeling. The local youth have been camping in nearby woods most weekends, leaving loads of trash, bottles and cans. As soon as we clear one lot up...

Lovely images - #3 is my favourite - but maybe slightly lacking in contrast (might be solved by more PP). I think that's why I like #3 best - clearer definition of the elements here.
Hi Tim, I know what you mean on both points, People need educating to take their crap back Home with them! As for the images, they look a lot better bigger! I tend to use NIK Tonal Contrast on my images so they'll look a bit different to ones adjusted with a global contrast filter, and you can't really tell until you see em a decent size. unless you've overdone it, then they look really crap!

I was just looking at that Matt, I think you are completely correct there! Heard of people using a 12mm but seems usable with the mirror locked up only, bit too risky with Me at the Controls that!

Does anyone know if this Lens could be converted to a K mount???
Curious...

[quote][Interesting thread. I was struck by a thought. How many people who shoot RAW and use Lightroom (with it's post processing graduated filters) still feel the need for grad filters on the lens?/quote]

I have found that it is better to get your processing done per say at the shooting level, With my one stop and indeed two stop Graduated ND's. When I have used the One stop with the K5 even with it's DR the highlights can still be blown and require post processing but having used the filter in the first place they are easily recoverable. This is not always the case without the Filter attached, when I have needed to use the two stop to balance the exposure there is usually no way I could avoid Highlight blowout in post processing alone. It is however a bit of a faff using them in the field, (Landscape Photographers Pun: intended.)since at 49mm thread size they are a little small for my annoying Arthritic Sausage fingers...
And don't get me started on the DA 40mm Lens Cap, AAArrghhh...
