Not the most erratic flying birds perhaps but some confusing backgrounds and I think the K3 did pretty welll here.

I personally don't care if it's the fastest or not as long as it is accurate and tracks, I'm seeing evidence that it does. I may have to do a day at Derwentwater shooting Geese etc but again they are your'e straight line kind of birds but I'd like to see a goose or swan head on take off sequence, from someone, so I guess it may have to be me! If successful that would be good enough for me, I'd be even happier if I could get some Jets in the the Mach loop from the front instead of as they fly away but finances will not allow me to travel out of the county for the forseeable...
Actually it makes me wonder, after so many years being told that Pentax doesn't do sports if the brand mostly atracts people who, erm, don't do sports...

Boeing C17 Military Transport, Raf has a whole eight of them to cover our long range strategic transport need! A rare bird over here, one is helping out in the phillioines at the moment...

With you there Fltecher8, My Nikons D300/s/D800E/D3 all with 51 point AF had a plethora of modes point selections and focus hold options etc and invariably I found I was in the wrong one when I needed to just pick up the Camera. I got more success with the "Lesser" D7000/D600 (Less modes and only 39 point), user error sometimes maybe but I would just like a system that would just work, however it would seem that no manufacturer can do this (Canon 7D is about the nearest). I would put the 5DMKIII as about the most complete Camera out there at present but it is a complex beast that I do not find very intuitive to use, still I nearly bought one rather than come back to Pentax because of peer pressure but I'm glad I stayed my Nerve...
The k3 is a beast

Ephotozine K-3 Review
Yes he let slip he had one in one of my threads, perhaps you should do a video review John and show Chris Nicholls, Blunty and Company how it's done!

If I recall correctly, one of the things that happened during the 'Hoya' period, was an equalising out of prices worldwide. The big discounts available to US suppliers seemed to disappear and heavy discounting was discouraged. Certainly the differential between most of the mainstream lenses narrowed during that time.

It would seem that Ricoh have reversed that strategy. The examples cited by Gary (K10D)are an illustration of that. Earlier this week I saw a North American supplier offering a K3 with a DA18-135 for less than £1000

From the outside looking in, it would appear that it is the US and Far East markets that Ricoh are really pushing for and that once again Europe is seen as a market to 'milk' and subsidise the pursuit.

I cannot imagine that there is a big enough market in the UK for suppliers to exert that much influence. Certain prices may come down for a period of time and there can be many reasons for that, but the overall policy seems clear.

Price reductions, compared to say a year or so ago, include the 18-270mm, 10-17mm, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, 18-135mm, just off the top of my head.
Yes I see that now John, all the Lenses I would never think to look at, save for the Fisheye!
