Beat me to it Steve! Now before anyone bangs on (You know who you are!) about the fact that it's a PC Mag and not a Photo Mag, bear in mind they do review a lot of Photo Gear on a regular basis, and from memory don't ever seem to like anything, (Save for Olympus) so it's a bit of a coup really...

I meant to add that so far my finding on AF hold seem to be at odds with the K3 brochure on the Ricoh Jpn site, which is why I need to investigate this much more before drawing any conclusions...

The problem with the AF thing is everyone seems to be looking for different things from it to achieve their goals. Just read a thread on the other forum where a user rates it as good as his 7D, and another who rates it below the big two. Not posting the links as I don't think it helps and you know where to look anyway! Anyone expecting AF abilities like a circa three grand "Pro" body should not be looking on this forum as Pentax/Ricoh don't make one. AF systems take time to learn, one thing I have already noticed is the "hold" feature does not work in the same way as Nikon bodies. The hold just increases the timeout on the AF requiring less half presses of the shutter release, something which will take me time to aquaint myself with for sure.

It's still fairly early days, things do take time to build up.
Well the K mount has been in use since 1975 (12 years longer than Canon's EF.)
@ JR, how can you blindly defend the indefensible? Your brand bias is showing. "Early days"? in the words of Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson), "My ar$e".

Pentax/Hoya/Ricoh have been producing Pentax badged DSLR cameras for 10 years now. How long do they think they need?

In their previous pre-digital life, their long A*, F*, and FA* zoom lenses were legendary, and still are.

During their digital life it's taken them 9 - 10 years to give us a new lens over 300mm, and that's a prime. The fact that I can't afford one is another matter

Like many others, I am now totally reliant on Sigma for long zoom lenses.
K mount is very small beer anywhere but Japan, it's history is just that... They will need to spark substantial growth in the brand worldwide before Tamron will get the block on production, lifted by Sony. Sony don't want competition but they obviously can't stop them making Canon/Nikon mount lenses but they exert their will thru their seat at the board to hamper the opposition. I find this kind of business pressure irksome but not unexpected, the Pentax mount Lens would be pretty much exactly the same as the Sony A mount one save for the brass on the back

Since Tamron make (or once made) Pentax lenses for Pentax (DA 18-250mm and FA 80-200mm, possibly others), there is possibly some trade agreement between the two companies that prevents Tamron from releasing Pentax fit lenses.
Sony have an 11% stake in Tamron, hence the Sony 28-75mm looking like a Tamron cause it is...
Sony are apparantly against Tamron releasing their VC/USD lenses in Pentax mount, don't ask for a link as I cannot give you that, just that I know this...
I wish Sigma would weather seal their Lenses, they've done one (The new 120-300) but thats hardly affordable either, I'm also doubtful it will ever appear in Pentax mount, it was listed then de-listed at B&H, some time ago, anyone found one for sale anywhere???

I'm sorry to say that if Ricoh/Pentax carry on like this, those of us who are ordinary working men who are hobbyists will either switch to third party lenses from Sigma or Tamron (Where there's a Tamron available) or end up having to buy second hand equipment when it's available. As a former photo store salesman myself, I've often questioned the pricing logic behind the 12-24mm f4 in particular, especially given that effectively the same lens in a Tokina barrel with admittedly non KAF mounts was more often than not available at a significantly lower price. I remember when the price differential between the said Pentax lens and the Sigma 10-20 was something like £150 or so and I felt could perhaps be justified, but at well over £300 now, I've come to the conclusion that someone, somewhere is having a good old laugh.
If Sigma would finally step up and make weather sealed lenses for mortals I would have no Pentax Lenses at all...
The new 120-300 F(ART) 2.8, Sorry S(PORT), shows that they can do it. So whilst I know they are busy re-branding themselves, I'd also like em to bung some bits of rubber in their lenses!
