I am getting K-3 results that are "different" from my K-5 Classic.
I enjoy reading all the comments from you more technically savvy and more experienced members, a good learning resource.
So far I have only been 'messing around' with my various lenses and getting the clear impression that AF is generally faster and more accurate, I was initially disappointed that at 100% view on my monitor that there did not seem to be significantly more sharpness, but then I remembered that "100% view" was now about 50% larger than with the K-5 images, magnifying detail and edges and showing up any shortcomings in a most unforgiving way.
Also, unfairly I suppose I was enjoying playing around with my 31mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.2 at wide open apertures, for harsh testing of AF accuracy, in low daylight, tungsten and fluorescent light....(the AF passed!)
BUT....I have also "got real" and viewed images on my (approx) A3 size monitor and printed in A4 and been very happy with the results with far more detail in the A4 prints than my 58 year old eyes can see.
I understand from others that, in essence, the K-3 has gone for general improvements in almost everything, including resolution, at the expense of high ISO performance?
Suits me then.
Physics would seem to indicate it should be a little worse, if it had only offered below ISO 100, I think it could have matched the K5 for colour as well as DR but not noise, it's not bad but not better either, for my purposes it works and it works very well for more than 90% of my work but I'm doing a David Storm here and trying to claw enough together for another K5 to have the best of both worlds. I'm abandoning the idea of an XE2 Et Al as my back up and going for a Two Pentax body system as soon as funds allow. K3 offers improvemnts at every level of operation and the detail indeed as John mentioned earlier kicks my old D600 into touch!

Yeah it's been out what, like 2 weeks or so? Early adopters will pave the way for updates and subsequent hardware models down the line.
That's about when I'll be able to afford one, so if you guys could just iron out all the early wrinkles for me, that would be splendid. Thanks!
Ed gets there... eventually

SHoots himself in the foot a few times regarding Camera Specs etc and rambles a bit, which he chastises himself for but his point is valid, well I think so anyway...

Weight of the equipment comes very high on my list, it's the Mountaineer in me. I Went on a course with a well known Mountaineer once in the French Alps but his name escapes me, He was so weight obsessed, he had us cutting the handles off our toothbrushes! To Skit him when we climbed Mont Blanc, we all took something frivolous with us up the mountain and proceeded to present them at the summit, there was a plethora of Toy Nessies and Teddy Bears/Dragons. I took a Casio Pocket TV, Which did his nut in!
He stormed off the top yelling at us that "You'll never be mountaineers as long as you have Arseholes!"

Why does there have to be a "personal limit" on MP? If you asked the question when pixel counts were 3MP then why would you ask it then, and why ask it now? Whatever MP are offered will define what's available.
The question is just as valid back when cams were around 3MP. Back then I would expect people to cite a number far greater than 3MP, becuase of printing large prints at a decent DPI.
I do think that these days we are getting to a stage where the MP count is becoming less of a priority to improve.
And esoteric devices that record every Higgs Boson throughout your life aside, it was rather aimed at the regular Camera.
Or 16 Bit, or heaven forbid 3D...
