Newer models may have better colour or contrast and autofocus but they are less enjoyable to use. For landscape or night photos old lenses are often better because they don't focus beyond infinity.

I have plenty of AF lenses but I love using my M and K and other old manual lenses too, on both film and digital.

That just indicates the shutter is horizontal rather than the vertical one in the 645.

That's the shutter.

The sensor is behind it and can only be seen if the camera is put into sensor-cleaning mode.

I loved the Katzeye in my K200D and I'd like one in my K3 but with liveview and focus peaking accurate manual focusing is less of an issue. On my Fujifilm X-M1 even less so - I wish the K3's liveview implementation worked in the same way, especially not switching off the magnified view automatically after a few seconds.

This first one is 160NS and the others are the now discontinued Reala. I find that Reala is superb in the shade but in bright sunlight it's very saturated with a lot of contrast. I need to try to get through my remaining rolls this summer as they're already a few years expired.
